how do you remove axle from intermediate shaft?

how do you remove axle from intermediate shaft?

can anyone tell me how to remove the stock axle from the intermediate shaft, and how to get the new axle on to the intermediate shaft? thank you here's a pic of what I'm talking about...





need to separate those two parts from each other, tried hammering it but it didn't budge...

you pull it out. but its easiar said than done, you going to need a pry bar and be carful

its easier if the intermediate shaft is still connected to the car.

use a big screw driver, pry bar crow bar same this a pry bar just is flat and doesnt have a hook like a crow bar, what ever you can use to fit in there thats not going to break

so I have to pry from inside the housing here the bearings fit in ???

pry right between were it connects to the intermid shaft to the axle

when i switched my axles out for stage ones, and it took me 45 mins a side, and that was the first time doing it not knowing how too. just put some elbow grease into,

man I'm trying to pry this thing but it's not coming out at all....

anyone have any other tips?? to add??

this is exactly how I got it out!!! it was a bit rusted inside and thats why it was so hard!!!. after getting it out I cleaned it with a wire brush and lubed it just a little bit and the new one slid right in!! thanks for all the help guys!!

Pry it. I just took mine out in under 30 minutes tonight. Of course, mine was on the car still, but I guess you could slap the I' shaft in the vise and use a big screw driver and a hammer to pry it apart. Mine came out with relative ease, in fact, I thought I had broke something, because it came out so much easier than the other side.

Just put like a foot long 3/8" ratchet extension on the inside of the race bearing housing and take a BFH and hit it about twice. Should pop right out all nice and covered in rust. You should be able to change both of your axles with hand tools in under 45 minutes. I assure you that you are thinking too much into it. It's easy.

Driver side was easy. Passenger side was rusted in. Took me a half hour. I applied some antiseize to splines for the next time
