TWM is a great shifter. I find it a little more difficult to put it in gear over the B&M though. Its just a stiffer shifter. But seems great though.

i looked at the twm shifters. they are more expensive and that kinda sucks. the other issue i have is i do not like the polished shifter. can it be switched for a different color? on the site i looked at all the different color ones were weighted and i can't bring myself to spend 80+ dollars on a shift knob.

where is the best place to buy twm shifters?

Our Cobalt SS short shifter is more expensive than the other short shifters available because the overall quality is better. We use TIG welding on the shifter shaft/main pivot ball where other short shifters are using a spring pin that tends to come lose. We also use a combination of delrin bushings and rubber o-rings for the reverse lockout mechanism where on others it's metal sliding directly on metal. The operation of the RL is much more smoother on ours.

Plus, it's also the most aggressive both in height and throw reduction. I don't believe any other vendors stock our Cobalt short shifter, you can buy it directly from our site on the following link:

I have the hurst now. I like it. And it does what it's designed to do.

Question about the TWM though...

Can you put MOMO knobs on the shifter?

Smart choice, pretty simple to install (instructions are included) just take your time to adjust the cables properly, both need to be adjusted the instructions don't really say to adjust both but it is needed.

In the Cobalt SS/TC, for some reason both cables sometime needs to be adjusted. In every SS/SC I worked on though, I never needed to adjust the second cable.

If you need to adjust the cable that controls the side-to-side movement of the shifter (basically to get a better engagement of the 5th gear and reverse) you will need to adjust it the same way as it's pictured in the manual to adjust the other cable. Very straight forward.

Thanks,

Frank

As far as I know their shift knobs use set screws to secure to the shifter so it would interfere with the RL mechanism of the Cobalt short shifter.

I installed a TWM on my buddies SS/TC, and I could NOT get one of the rubber base bushings out to change from the stock shifter. it just would not come loose. i couldnt even get the black plastic assembly out because it was just stuck. flat heads prying on it and everything wouldnt break it loose. That was crazy. We wound up just not installing the metal base bushings

The aluminum shift knob we sell with the short shifter is a similar weight to the stock Cobalt shift knob:

Aluminum M1 Abrams RL
