How low is the STS compared to stock. I don't want to feel like an ape reaching down for it. If I change the bushings on my stock shifter, does that help a lot more? I REALLLLY don't want my shifter to be low. Sorry for my slight jack here OP.

Our Cobalt SS/SC and SS/TC short shifter is 1" shorter than the stock unit. It actually feels great.

If you want to keep the stock height, we also offer different shift knob models that will sit at about the same height as stock.

Thanks,

Frank

Even for someone like me that never installed a shifter before? I bought the TWM shifter with the aluminum steel round knob, bushings and cable clamp, and I was thinking to have somebody else do it. But if you think I may be able to, I will try to do it myself and save 100 bucks or so

Definitely! All of these are easy if you have simple tools and a vice. Once you have the stock shifter out of the car, you are a minute away from changing the base bushings and the new cable clamp is even easier to re-install than the stock plastic clamp!

Hey TWM any word on a non metalic knob? I really wanna buy a shifter but Colorado has some wild temperature extreems (10 degrees at night and 70 degrees during the day) I want a knob that does not get too hot or too cold to touch!

The 2.4 SS N/A has the regular shifter without reverse lockout, like a regular Cobalt. Only the SS/SC and SS/TC has the shifter with reverse lockout. If your car is pre-owned, maybe the previous owner changed it, but there is no significant gain doing so.

Thanks,

Frank
