I know i dont drive a balt

but i drive a cavalier 2200 ohv with the getrag 5 speed and second gear is gone. ive been told it was the syncros. i dont care what it is really, i just want to know from you guys what would be cheapest, most efficient, and over all most worth it. have a company rebuild. buy a junk yard trans and put it in myself. buy a new trans and put it in myself. or just deal with it untill feb of next year and just sell it as is for a balt

Drive it and skip second gear.

Then wait till it goes out completely and get a new vehicle.

it goes in but just kicks back out like i left it in neutral and grinds before it pops out. i used to be able to rev match down shift but i guess that just wore it out even more and i cant do that anymore.

thats what ive been doing
its the second gear synchros..same thing happened to me on my cobalt..its from shifting hard.and dropping in that gear at high rpms..i had the dealer fix it cuz more than likely
the synchros are all rounded out with no groves or anything..the gear would be hard to go
in and just pop out and then would grind trying to put back in.

Cheapest is to find a junk yard trans and toss it in yourself if you have to keep the Cavalier.

Have you tried rev matching it into 2nd (Double clutch on the upshift?)

you wont get much for it ne ways, mise well just live with it until you get a cobalt. Though you have almost a year to wait, so i guess its how much it bugs you
