#26
i just taught someone who's never driven a manual how to drive one with my car. not only does it have the zzp s4 but its also got the cams in there, 1st and 2nd gear are completely different driving than stock. and SHE, yes a girl drove it, only stalled it twice.

NLS helps dramatically tho. ive raced another ss/tc and when i dont NLS he pulls a little. when i use NLS i walk him easy (with him using NLS the whole time)
i only use it at the track or a close race.
anyway yea i saw you got that k04+. hope u enjoy it. i was about to buy it then i had to buy a laptop, then i saw a BNR GT2871 for cheap so i snatched that up.

Also, I don't doubt NLS helps a lot, when I was stock I got 14.6 and tuned not using NLS my best time is 14.006
So I'm sure I can get into the 13s if I just do it. I'm just too scared to use it and especially now that I'll be K04+ I'm never gonna use it.

Ok, so after a couple days, the engagement on this clutch is extremely close to stock when done right. Mine is almost identical, and I was VERY surprised about this. The only thing is that since it is a pucked clutch, it doesn't slip the same as stock, but pedal feel and pressure are very similar to stock, and I am pleasantly surprised. I am having a two issues, but I do not think they are due to the clutch. Issue 1 is a slight "grinding" noise when I let off the gas above 3k with clutch engaged (pedal out, just in case someone needs clarifying), which is probably just a shifter linkage issue, so I will be adjusting that tonight. Issue 2 is a clicking noise that I am hearing when sitting at idle with clutch out. Both issues go away upon depressing the clutch pedal, so tonight my car is going back up on the lift and I will be checking to make sure shifter linkage is good and everything is tight. SO, basically, this clutch is a high quality piece so far and I totally recommend it. It gives hard shifts at first, but now it's starting to smooth out, though trying to use 1st and reverse are still a little interesting It holds good power right out of the box too. I didn't go out launching it hard or anything like that, but once into 2nd/3rd after driving it around for 200+ miles I tried ramping up the boost and so far it holds up to just about 20psi, and it's not even really broken in yet. I haven't had the guts to go all out yet (23 psi) and probably won't for a while, just to be careful. I will post another update probably tomorrow about whether or not the issues are fixed.
AND on an install note, this job really isn't that bad. This was my first clutch job ever, and the guy I was working with's first LNF, and it only took us about 3.5 hours. If we hadn't had so many interruptions we probably could have done it in somewhere around 2.5, but that's what you get when you're working on your personal car and still have customers showing up asking questions and things like that. ANYWAYS,

They can make a multiple disc system but itll be more expensive ( I AM ALSO THE TEST CAR LOL) But for a dd this clutch is great....... i understand people who are wanting to replace the t.b because the tranny is out but if your car has less then 30k look at the t.b before replacement because itll save you a few bucks... They have several clutches they make for the bals and ect and all are great... And DART itll hold your 450tq....... i had no issues. Also they make a full face race disc and its pucked but it uses a full disc for better holding capacity. Double sprung and ect. Just letting you know but if you get this i recommend a tranny build or dont always nls or get on it. I blew up two trannys (QUAIFE TRANNYS) with this disc.

How does this clutch feel compared to a ClutchMasters Stage 3. It they both hold what I'm asking it to what would be better for daily driving.

LOL i had the stage masters clutch stage 4 twice and blew them both up. Prediction of clutch engagement sucked nuts...... You can slip the clutch but it is different then the stocker because kevlar vs ceramic = it wont be the same.... The clutch comes with a warranty and ky clutch is seriously hassle free. You can nls all you want but once you smart up (When you blow your tranny) dont blame the clutch lol...... Nothing against nls but the tranny cant hold it for long bro..

Okay what's their website?
I just want stock feel, stock pedal and no problems. I wanna be able to slip it a little and I never NLS even on stock clutch. So if KY Clutch can do all this then well I don't see a problem with it.
Times I need slipping is drive thrus, highway traffic, drive thru car washes and other times I need to ease forward.

Dammit, I just wish someone locally had one so I can try it out. I'm hesitant on this clutch because of price and I have never heard of them until James. It's like it's too good to be true! Like my buddy says Cheap, reliable and performance you can only have two.
But ky clutch seems to break that rule by what James and a few others are saying.

Hey mark stfu. .. Zzps clutch is outragously priced. Why pay 500+ for a clutch you can buy from somewhere else for 265+ ... Dirty girl... Lol.... This is why its to good to be true. I asked them to give you all a good price if i tested there clutches. Usuall price is about 400+ for the lower hp rated clutches......

Lol.... Ok...... Its like this.... I can care less what you buy because i make no profit on these clutches. The thing most people do not know is brands like. luk. oem. exedy. Sachs. Make pressue plates for most kits out theres. Like the clutchmasters pressure plate all it is, is a sachs oem gm pressure plate painted white. And i can guarentee zzps clutch is similiar. Ky does use these.pressure plates but they upgrade internal hardware and test.and they carry a one year warranty. .... All the clutch installs i do i put in ky clutches and not one has come back.. 30+ clutches for the cobalts and ect.. So there are now 100+ clutches order for the hhr and cobalts. Only issue was the kevlar ceramic.. People were not breaking them in correctly so it would slip..
Oh yeah if u wanna pay 500+ ill let ky clutch know so ure beleifs come true

I feel they need a new test car. Yours is more powerful than the most of us and a lot of us prefer stock feel and some slippage. ZZPs clutch provides us that but it seems as if KY only caters to the high powered. Maybe if they had a regular fully bolt on stock Turbo to test a clutch on from a average driver not race car driver then they can make a more daily driver friendly clutch that holds more than stock clutch.
