Ok guys just a heads up, we have discussed most but we are still trying to figure pricing on a few clutchs.. (mainly the full faced discs) for drivability purposes.... We are searching around for the best materials and at a good price so you all may get the best pricing for the clutch.. also know that the materials used in these kits are a+ materials . Turbotechracing is already apart of our community and when the deal is done, ky clutch will be here for the community. Thanks to Aaron for being part of the #1 vendor "turbotechracing". Without his opinion about kyclutch this wouldnt be happening.

.thank you Aaron.

Since we are still waiting on a couple pricing things with KY. I did want to pass on and address your post.

I will try to post this as clearly as possible so everyone can understand.

Topic: Discs in Clutch Kits - Puck VS Full Face.

What is a Puck style Disc?

Just as it sounds, it will have 4, 6 or 8 "pucks" most times.

What is a Full Face Disc?
Just as it sounds, it will have full face, in which looks like a washer.

Next: What is the difference.

When using the same material and same pressure plate, a Puck design will hold more torque. You may ask: Why?

Lets take for an example a 2,000 lb pressure plate.

The Puck disc has 6 pucks at 6 IN^2 of surface area each puck. Total surface area then is 36 IN^2 (6 Pucks Times 6 SQ Inches per Puck)

The Full face disc has a constant surface material, the total surface area of 72 IN^2.

With the stated example of a 2,000 lb pressure plate:
On the Puck style would have a pressure of ~55 lbs per square inch of material.
On the Full Face style would have a pressure of ~26 lbs per square inch of material.

With this being stated a Puck style will hold more torque.
Press down lightly on a piece of paper and pull. Then do again and press down twice as hard and pull. The harder you can push on the same area, the more it does not want to move.

However the Puck design will generally wear out faster, as there is less material on the puck. Full face will last longer, as it has more wearable material.

Keep in mind there is more to clutch discs than what we just reviewed, for exmaple materials of the disc, diameters, ect. In addition pressure plate force/lbs.

I hope this helps some?

Also pucked style clutches, wether they are full faced with pucks,or a actual pucked friction disc. They dissipate heat and make it easier to hold power longer. Now having the full face puck disc will lose some of that benefit but its still able to hold the power . Full faced discs non pucked lose the abilty to keep the power because of the above but a lot of it is due to the heat transfer. If there are any technical questions out there about ky clutches, shoot me a pm please we are here for the community.

Thanks guys.

Thanks for the info, now I know more about clutches.

The only concern I have with KY is drivability, but if it's just as good as stock then I'd be interested for sure.

I had already planned on getting a ZZP stage 4, but I think having TTR having it readily available will cause more people to have one, thus making more reviews and perhaps one day someone in Colorado will get one and I can test it out.

Drivability on any clutch will be different then stock. You can have a relatively close pressure feel but never the same. Ky clutches pressure change with pressure plate clamping force , which is somthing they test on every clutch setup they send out. And the given pressure is given with clutch stages. When we have the full faced discs ready we will get you the technical data like material, and Tq capacity along with plate pressures ..

Thanks guys.

The ability to slip it like a stock clutch is what I want. Helps a lot with launching at the track and just makes daily driving better. I don't care if the clutch is a little stiffer.

Oh hell yeah I agree with Dart_SI but if you guys do make a full faced one that holds good and can slip, you guys can have my money. Well for a clutch of course, but still.
