Loose shifter

My shifter is progressively getting more play in it. I can wiggle in left and right when it's in gear and I was wondering if there is a way I can tighten it? I rather fix my stock shifter then getting a new one

I know you say you dont want a new one...but a TWM STS is really crisp and tight, feels great. But I would remove the the shiftboot and console around the shifter and try to see where the slop is coming from.

Not buying a new shifter would leave you with solid base bushings and LNF cable bracket to tighten up.

$40. $20 for bushings, $20-25 for the bracket.

Bushings are gonna be cheapest from OTTP.
You still would, because TWM bushings are $40.. Dunno if there are any difference, but I doubt it.

Bracket you would want regardless.

It may be the linkage at the transmission that is what happened to my car. I have bushings and a TWM and it started getting wobbley and I lost a bolt on the linkage.

im at work now I have noticed this wobble has gotten worse. Im going to open up my box and see whats up but updating my brackets and bushing wouldnt hurt esp. since they arent hat much.

How bad are these to install??

It's the spring on the shifter. Swapping in a twm or bps sts won't fix the issue. Your going to need a new shifter assembly. I got one from mongo a while ago and all my shifter sloppiness went away. I dug at it hard a year or two ago to figure out the exact cause. Lol

Base bushings or cable clamp won't help much either.

The spring circled above wears over time and causes side to side sloppiness of the shifter. I've never tried to change the spring but I have bought a new shifter from monogorat on here and my shifter felt.... Well new. Lol.

Hmm, interesting. My stock shifter has 160k. Maybe it's time to get a new one.
