lost 2nd 4th an Reverse!!

well about a month ago i noticed when shifting i had to really pull hard to get it in gears 2 4 an Reverse. It would only grind if it wasnt in all the way when i let the clutch out. The other night i shifted into second kinda hard ...... when i shifted into 3rd it was fine then i tried to down shift into 2nd an it didnt go in all the way so i tried a second time an it felt loose an wasnt there. I noticed 4th an revers was also mia. but 1st 3rd an 5th work fine. no grinds not hard to get in at all.

sounds like one of your cables came off in the shifter linkage under the cup holders. should look like this...

the cables still seem attached. when i move the shifter they both move. except the black on in the pic above the metal is showing. looks more like the one with the white clip.

Under your hood remove the fuse box then there are 2 linkage cables to the tranny. Hold the cable and pop the plastic shroud back in. That should be your fix...it was for me.

This happened to me. Three times in a row. . .

Gm had to give me a new tranny because something inside the actual trans broke.

I wish you the ebst of luck on that one and make sure they re-assemble your drivetrain properly . .. that was another headache all on its own.

Sounds like the shift linkage broke. By the spot where BoomInIt stated, the sheathing is a cheap plastic that breaks easy and once it does the cable no longer has a proper guide to the tranny causing it flop around and crimp up eventually not permitting you to get in gear. $110 part if I remember correctly.

I am glad that I am not the only one with transmission issues right now. Mine would sometime not go into reverse without putting hte car in first and rocking it and it would randomly pop out of 5th. I am waiting on the delearship to put a new transmission in it. I am now on week 2 without my car.
