most modern cars now-adays including your cobalt dont come with air filters. its replaced with a air recirculating turbo blow off style valve also known as a ARTBOS. this ARTBOS takes the exhaust your car is spitting out and puts it back into the engine, meaning your car no longer needs a air filter because there is no air to filter.

i beleive its on page 58-b of your owners manual.

well yes and no

the LSJ has DEI with ARTBOS, essentialy its a better version of DEI.

think of it like a turbocharged car having a atmospheric blow off valve..that *sneeze* you hear.

well really..a bypass valve is better..because instead of *sneezing* that boost its holds it in till its eyes blow out its head and puts it back into the turbo.

get what im saying?

yup thats it. but watch out..KN can **** up ARTBOS..try AC DELCO

make sure that filter is clean..because its absorbing all those exhaust gases..and if it gets to dirty your car will stall

also make sure all your fluids are topped up since your under the hood already...brake,tranny,windsheild washer and blinker fluids.

no. it does have a filter, along with every other engine. These guys are ******* with you thinking it's common knowledge, not realizing how little the average person knows about the internal combustion engine or the impact on your financial situation false information, like they're giving, could have. You DO have an air filter. It is located within your airbox. This is the rectangular, black plastic box connected to a large plastic tube attached to the front/top of your engine (as simple as I can explain it). Go to the dealership before you come here for simple info like that. Once you learn a bit more, there is some good info here, but until then consider this place jackass central.

ccorrect me if i'm wrong but The diffrence between conventional DEI and ARTBOS is that ARTBOS incorporates a few ceramic style muffler bearings into its system?

hey man..not cool to trick a new memeber like that...

killah..dont listen to this guy..hes just a simple troll...he knows nothing about the internal combustion engine..

he is refering to the diesel engine which uses a airfilter...however..modern internal combustions engines do not..they use ARTBOS AND DEI.
