Hey guys, its been awhile but I finally picked up a transmission from a scrap yard ( this is my third one). Anyway the tranny is in and the bottom is all buttoned up but I am having a TERRIBLE time trying to get a simple little retaining clip back on the line that goes into the bleeder block on top of the transmission. I have done everything but get the BFH out and go to town on it. I have pics.....but I cant figure out how to get them up here.

 

Place the clips in the block first, then simply line up the block over the pipe nipple and seat the block on the nipple (you should hear or feel it clip in). Then push the hard clutch line into the block. That should clip back in as well. Easy peasy.

 

The block is already on the transmission....... never took that part off, are you saying to put the clip in first then push the hard line in?

 

Yes. It's much easier to get everything to seat doing it that way. Plus the fittings are designed to work that way.

Are you sure that clip is supposed to go in first, I just tried that and nothing not even with a pair of channel lock pliers will this thing go in all it is doing is galling up the nipple on the end of the line!!!!! I must be the dumbest person on the earth because easy least it isn't. I have about three hours alone working on just this clip. I even unseeded the fitting.g off of the block to get more leverage and all I did was bend the clip. A match and some gas is looking real good about now.

 

Post a pic of what your having issues with just in case I'm misunderstanding your issue. The clips on the block are 100% designed to go on first before snapping in though, that I can assure you. I've done it 100 times.

 

Clip goes in first, rotate the clip 90* from where you were trying to insert it in the block.
