pedals

well first of all i hope this is the right place to ask this question....

I have a stock 2.2L 5 spd. i am looking at replacing the pedals completely, not just have racing pedals strapped on the old ones. is this possible, and what would it run me? also is it possible to have the gas pedal moved up some, because i find it too far down to heel toe properly. this is a serious question thankyou for your replies.

As far as I know there is no "magical" adjustment you can do to the gas pedal, and yes, heel and toe downshifts are pretty difficult with the current setup.

It looks to me that the pedals are just plastic covers, and there are some GMPP ones available for install.

use the side of your foot, or strap a piece of wood on to the gas pedal.... there is no remedy for heel toe shifting, and it is kind of pointles unless you are on the track..... just rev the engine a little then downshift......

I disagree. Unless you live on the track and can practice everyday you will never get good at heel toe. Doing it on the street whenever you drive is the only way for some of us to practice. It becomes normal and you do it without knowing it. It becomes like breathing. Balancing the car isn't something you have to think about anymore and it allows you to concentrate on other aspects of driving.

I have not addressed this problem yet. I am going to try getting the GM pedals and only putting on the accelerator. If that isn't enough I am going to remove the rubber from the brake pedal and cover the brake pedal in non-slip tape. Not sure what I will do if that isn't enough.

How much thickness do they add to the pedals? I am guessing that if you put all three GM pedals on nothing will change. You would have to just use the accelerator pedal.

even with just the accelerator, since it is a whole new unit, the pedals still feel the same, with just the accelerator in...... its also a pain in the ass to get in and take out...

Ah so they aren't just covers. Might look into getting one of the Sparco sets that bolt on. You have to drill holes in the existing pedals but they are secure. Just using the accelerator from one of those kits should help some.

it still is a good mod tho, the GM ones look like they belong in the first place
