People who are thinking or have a SPEC Clutch READ THIS!!!!!

This is the past thread that I had made before my car went into the shop http://www.******************/forums...ight=****+spec

*Replace all the ***** with redlineforums. com

Now I'm making this thread to people who are thinking about buying SPEC. I had 7K Miles on my SPEC Stage 3+ with the Flywheel after the shop that I

Notice All the burned clutch on the flywheel

My Clutch Actulator could not take the pressure of the next couple pics

This is the Disk.......Wait a min there is springs missing WTF!!!!!!

The better view of what I was fighting with.

The other side of the disk.......

The back side of the Pressure plate Notice the ring on the fingers where the broken part of the disk was hitting....Causing me NOT TO BEABLE TO SHIFT!

The front side of the pressure plate The ring is there cause the wrong flywheel was sent the first time......

So now I know how it is to shift my car again. The Mechanic also informed me that whoever put on my flywheel crossed threaded EVERY bolt in the crank. So they had to re-tap and heli coiled the threads in the crank.

Sorry to the people I told to buy a SPEC but I was not having this problem at first when I told you guys........

I know a lot of people personally, been in their cars and drove it with the spec 3+ cuz i was looking to get one one person had 20k on his, others have about 10k+ not one single problem

I dont think it is the clutch, unless you got a damaged or poor quality one

I have a spec 3+, and other then the mess up when I first ordered it, my car has been doing fine. twzted has driven my car and can tell you the same. (in fact, he just did). Sure it was kinda frustrating when it wouldn't work the first time, with the flywheel being 7/16ths of an inch too tall, but Spec was quick to send me out another clutch/flywheel.

I broke in the clutch pretty well, and haven't had any issue with it. Been to the track and no slip at all.

seen same stuff for cavalier owners.... I had a spec stage 3 in my car and didnt have a problem till the end and it started to slip. At that time tho I traded it in so I didnt care anyways. but with that exedy hyper single disk out im gonna get one of them since there isnt much of a price difference between a clutch and flywheel or the exedy kit

So for ppl with the Fidanza flywheel and looking to get the Spec 3+, is there something needed to modify the setup to make it work?

Ron9919 What Flywheel Where You Using? If It Was A Fidanza The Clutch Messed Up Because You Cant Use That Flywheel With The Spec Clutch

And Russo You Cant Use The Fidanza Flywheel With The 3+ But Spec Said You Can Moddify The Flywheel For The Stage 3 I Guess The Pressure Plate Is Diff

Damn, thats fucked up.You sure the person that installed your clutch didnt put it in backwards?I dont see why the fidanza flywheel wouldnt work with the spec clutch.Doesnt spec make the flywheel, and fidanza just puts there logo on it?Thats what i heard.

After reading over at the redlineforums, seems like he broke his transmission, both before and after the clutch install, and some are thinking that maybe thats what caused the clutch to go. That and the fact that he doesn't believe in a break in period.

yea spec makes a flywheel if you dont purchase a flywheel from them they send you a self adjusting clutch which has alot of problems because it adjust's wrong and if you get their flywheel they send you a none adjustment clutch which they claim doesnt have any problems

I kept the clutch and flywheel the same SPEC.

I broke in the clutch for 800 miles the trans went because of the clutch. It was hard to shift and I went to shift in to 2nd at about 6800RPMs (before I knew there was a problem) and it striped 2nd and 3rd gear out since the clutch wasn't working right.

Everyone that I know that has one did the install themselves and everything works perfectly.

The only difference is they do not have the flywheel(to my knowlegde). Everyone that I know that seems to have problems with AM clutches seem have flywheels as well. Should be something to look into.

I've got the flywheel Tommy. Other then a simple mishap when I first got it, which Spec already knew about by the time I got to installing (Ordered in Nov, installed in march). They sent me a new unit, and about 6-8 hours later it was back on the road again.

Can't wait to help you with your clutch Tommy!

I don't like how you always try to make record time with my car, make me a little uncomfortable. But I must say nothing has broken yet(knock on wood).

yep, pulley/injectors/flash in under 40 minutes.

I wonder how quickly Bryan and I will get the clutch in now.

I am another person where Spec 3+ w/ Spec Flywheel works fine. It seems more people have no issues than problems.

Had a Saturn SC2 with SPEC stage 3...Disc spings came apart but it was from old friction material from previous stripped clutch not cleaned from bell housing!! Took it back to SPEC (I live 30 minutes away from home office), gave me a complete new one w/ no questions ask. They are good ole Bama boys....
