Pictures of custom tractionn bars that i made!!

Here you guys go. Hope you like it and feel free to say what you like. I love them and can say for $90, its well worth it. I get absolutely no wheel hop unless its raining and if my a/c is on and i launch then the whole front end just shakes. Without a/c on and no rain, this baby just leaves rubber on the road.

install wasnt bad. the bad part was adjusting it. instead of having a female and a male end, i had to female ends. i have it adjusted now to where it is just about perfect. ride is no different, well atlease i dont notice any difference. no vibs or nothing out of the ordinary. as far as the how to, let me make sure it holds up for a good month. if it holds up, then i will write a how to up. i just dont want to write a how to if its not going to hold up.

Hey I used them to replace my lower transmission dogbone style mount on my old Cavi.!

Here's a free tip to help cut your 60' times, use one of those as a motor mount and put some pre-load on it so you rock the engine forward a little. This changes the driveline angle and rather then lifting in the front it tends to push the front down making the tires bite harder which we all know = better launches and 60' times.

so you mean make a traction bar style for you mount. so are you saying to have the engine tilted forward by pulling it forward with it on the front mount??? Would that cause the whole car to shake really bad seeing how it wouldnt move at all??

I believe hes refering to how the traction bars will operate on an arc ever so slightly on cornering and pull or push the control arm either forward or rearward there by changing the steering angle. Or hes expecting them too bind on corners

ohh well i dont plan on autocrossing the car so im not worried about it. and plus when im on the interstate or the streets, i dont take turns fast so its all good. i prefer drag racing.

No because the engine mounts are still rubber and still can move. All your doing is stopping the engine from rocking back and forth. The preload I put on wasn't much but man did it help! I used to dump the clutch and burn em off but when I added a few turns of pre load the car would just hook and jump off the line almost as hard as an AWD car would, it was great! Hey how do you think I got my Cavi. running a N/A 1/4 mile of 14.7? By doing ever little trick I knew thats how!

btw I looked at his pic wrong the first time, what I used was a simple turn buckle from Lowes for like $20.00 (I think, its been years) and washers to space it to the middle of the factory bolts. Once it was in I tried a few different combinations and found thru trial and erorr that about 2 to 2.5 turns of pre-load made my car hook like it was on slicks.

Not anymore sorry. You know what a dog bone mount is right? Its the mount they use to limit front to rear movement on the Caviliers, it was mounted under the car to the rear of the transmission on the passenger side of the car. All I did was remove the stock mount and install a turn buckle useing the factory bolts and washers as spacers to make up the difference in width from the mount. It stopped the engine rocking back and forth 100%. After that I got the idea to try preload from the drag cars with 4 link rears who add a couple degrees of rotation to the rear end so that when they launch the driveline straightens out and it rotates the rear tires downward to plant them and improve traction. I tried it and it worked.

The Cobalt doesn't have a dog bone mount so you'd have to fab the whole thing up.

ohh those aren't smashing into the subframe. i promise you that i have it spaced so that when the end rod is pivoted all the way up, i have a 1/4 in clearance.

damn that sounds interesting. imma have to do some research on this. im trying to get all the traction that i can because i think that once our cars get traction, they will open up so much and 1/4 times will drop a good bit. thanks for the info.

Take a look at the drag Cobalts. They have the engine tilted to preload aswell. If they can hook up and run 8 and 9 sec. passes, I'm sure they are doing something right.
