polyurethane tranny inserts

Im going to be going to maple grove on nov. 3rd. Mods in sig and dont have any traction mods yet. Poly tranny mounts are cheap and id like to get them but havent seen anyone really say much about them. Will they stop some wheelhop or am i better off getting the ingalls? I didnt wanna spend over a hundred and i can get the 2 inserts for $70.. Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks..

Yes they help reduce wheel hop. We have them @ www.TurboTechRacing.com for a very good price. Also, instead of the Ingalls you might want to look into a Turbo Tech Racing Solid Engine mount. Some have had the Ingalls brackets bend and have switched to the Turbo Tech Racing (TTR) mount and love it...

you have a decent amount of mods. it will defintely help a LOT, but i wouldn't expect wheel hop to totally be gone. i would definitely recommend them, i got them from ttr recently and they were well worth it. i still can't go more than 1/2 to 3/4 throttle in first gear, and i have both mounts and the ingalls on the stiffest setting. i also don't have the lsd though. but now, even when it does hop, it's more just the tires spinning and a few little hops as opposed to how it used to be where you thought something was broken.

Thanks for the info. I didnt see a how to but if you put the car on jack stands and use the jack to hold the tranny up, can i just take the bolts off that are holding it to the tranny and the one through the insert is that how you take them off??

I have the TTR engine mount and both upper lower tranny mounts. I love them but the vibrations get pretty bad. I hope they break in a little more and I get less vibrations. I should have my clutch broken in by then we should go together!

it's pretty simple. i've never done anything like this before but had zero issues with it. as long as you know what the mount is and where it is it's a piece of cake. like you said, jackstands, support the engine, and unbolt the mounts. the front one is easy, 3 bolts. the rear one is 6 bolts, and it's a little tight especially if the engine is warm. don't make my mistake and do it with the engine hot because you're going back and forth between the oil pan and the tranny which are both hot as hell, and then you have the downpipe at the top bolts which is a good 400 degrees.

you're welcome. just have to have some patience getting the stock bushing out, that's a total pain in the ass. i trimmed off one of the lips on the ttr bushings to get it into the mount easier. i used a big knife to cut the stock one out, the 2nd one laloosh had a big ass fork thing that we used to pry it out.

i did one this past thursday, and one the saturday before that, so both less than a week or so i guess. vibes are not bad at all. i don't see why people make it out to be so bad. the only time it vibes bad is when i'm slowing down and going very, very slow in 2nd like to go over a speed bump or somthing.

how long have you had the tranny mounts? I installed the Intense poly trans inserts and at first the vibes were bad, after they broke in the vibes die down considerably...after about a month they only make annoying vibes starting from 1st gear, while driving its not bad at all....some mounts are always noisy from what I hear...Intense tranny mounts are formulated just a tad softer.. the Control Arm bushings are sweet too, I never get wheel hop, just wheel spin

you cant have the ttr engine mount and the ingalls at the same time?? or does that defeat the purpose?

^^^ You only need one or the other, not both, the ingalls will not fit on the TTR Mount, but there is no need for an Ingalls TD when you have a solid Turbo Tech Racing motor mount.

the car ive been looking at buying has all urethane mounts and the ingalls TD. im not sure how long the mounts have been in it, but when stepping on it you hear the resonance from them through the car. i was considering if i buy the car to swap stock mounts back in and just keep the damper, however the car doesnt wheel hop right now, and i dont want it to start.

Without the prothane/TurboTechRacing inserts in the tranny it will put additional stress on the dampener. You really need all of them.

you get used to it quickly. it's not just the wheel hop it helps, also helps with shifting. the engine doesnt bounce around all over the place.

im already used to a vibrating engine, i had all the engine mounts welded solid with a sold dogbone in my 86 cavalier. when ya put a torquey v6 onto 4 cyl engine mounts (as thats what they were originally designed for), engine mounts didnt last long (my record was tearing one apart in 1 week)
