Problem with B&M shifter

i went to the track last night to race and after my 1st run i noticed when i speed shifted to 2nd, my shifter would go to far back. it doesnt do it when driving normal, it catches like its suppose to but when i speed shift, the shifter goes back to the normal stock position. but on the 2nd run i did, when i shifted to 2nd, it went too far back again but this time it was in neutral instead of 2nd. i was soo pissed because i would of probably got less than a 14.5 in 1/4 mile. im not sure whats wrong with it but any help would be great.
thanks

that's what i was thinking, the locking mechanism on the cable adjusters may not be totally snapped down

Yeah I would definately check the cable adjustment . If there outa adjustment , even a little , it can make the shifter not fully engage in gear , or not go in gear at all .

well i found out the problem. i took my car to a local performance shop and he said that my shift cable stretched from the wheel hop when i speed shifted because of all the stress on the engine. i really hope this isnt gonna take that long to repair because stuff like this shouldnt be happening to a performance vehicle.im pissed.
o an the b&m shifter took only about 30 mins. it was pretty easy to install after i fully understood the direction.

They didnt strech, they are steel cable lines.... (They wont strech by shifting) They are just going to adjust it and run with the money. Don't let them, anyone else think the same thing?

Or if you have it replaced as for them to keep the old cables.
