Rack Spacers changed Steering Rack Angle
Rack Spacers changed Steering Rack Angle
After months of waiting for them to arrive, I finally installed my steering rack spacers from OTTP today. They recently re-designed them and I noticed that some spacers have an inset for the rack bushings to sit in but these are flat on top and bottom. When I installed them the rack was angled toward the front of the car, which straightened out somewhat when I torqued them, but it is still sitting a little forward and there is a slight gap between the bolts and the rack. I was wondering if anyone else has used these and had a similar outcome and if there were any problems that resulted from this. It seems to drive fine but I'm not sure if a problem will develop over time or they will loosen out.
Just did some reading and saw that some people had to grind down the rear trans mount. I did see that it was awful close, but didnt think it was touching. Maybe it is and that's affecting the angle but either way the bushings don't fit in the spacers right so any suggestions would be great.

well looking back now I definitely would have gone with TTR but I just went for a drive and hear clicking in the front of the car and plan to remove the spacers as soon as it warms up a little outside. Now I have two nicely machined spacers for use on anything but my steering rack.

Something isnt right with the install. I have the same set from ottp with no issues. had them installed maybe 6-7k miles and counting.
The ones from TTR hit my trans mount and i ended up selling them and going with a slightly thinner OTTP spacers and had no problems.

I took them out yesterday - I think the rack might have been hitting the mount but the car drives fine without them. I don't mean to be so pessimistic but I just thought they were a direct fit as there's no instruction for grinding down tranny mounts.
what springs are you using? did you ask them to get you the right spacers for the right spring? I have pedders with spacers for just them and they worked fantastic.
i have stock tranny mounts, lowered 2"front, 2.5" rear and ordered the spacers for cars lowered 2-2.5". I have an LS with drop zone springs. btw the springs are great for everyday driving but not so much for performance - very soft
I have pedder springs OTTP transmission mounts and rack spacers with zero issues in mounting the rack spacers (except I was a retard and took both bolts off at the same time and had to go get an alignment because i messed up my center on my steering wheel. )
