s/c shift knob in 2.4

I was wondering if it was possible to have the dealer swap out the 2.4 shift knob for the one they put in the s/c cobalts? Has anyone heard or done this?

the knobs are really part of the shifters. you'd have to swap the entire shifter, and im unsure if this would work. it may work, however you'd most likely have to shave the reverse lockout and such.

It wont work. Besides the SS/SC knob is hideous! Just buy a TWM shifter. They have a ton of different knobs to choose from.

it could be done, but the question is, is it worth it you know? try and find something similar. I like the ss/sc one too but they're right it'd be a pain with the reverse lockout.

Someone please do or try this or something, I love the SS/SC shifter and wouldn't mind swapping mine out for it.

What is difficult about the knobs? It just screws on.

It's not really going to work, getting to that in the second.

I know some people who have had the whole knob come off, LOL.

I don't know about the 2.4/2.2 knob, but the SS/SC knob is NOT threaded, it's kinda pressed on. And spring loaded. So if you have one that someone's fooled with either at the dealer or elsewhere.....and it comes off...........it flies at your head.

The whole "pressed on" thing is why it won't really work unless you went to the trouble of somehow threading it, which I don't even know is possible. As for swapping out the entire assembly, I doubt it will work. The transmission is the same in the 2.2/2.4, but the SS/SC has a completely different transmission, so the shifter assembly is not likely to work at all.

Besides, all the 2.2/2.4 guys always want appearance mods off the SS/SC without realizing they've got more selection than we do. You guys can go pick out basically any shift knob you want......we have like 3 to choose from that work with reverse lockout.

Just search Momo or any old shift knob store and pick out one you like.
