I need to know of a good clutch to buy to safely drive the way i wanna drive and have room for maybe intense stage 3 upgrade...
I had my cobalt stage one for 4 months, then finally got my stage 2 installed from GM themselves. i was worried about the torque capablities in the clutch (210lbs) and the output of the gmstg2 (225lbs). I question'd the dealership, they told me not too worry. A month later... my cluch and flywheel BOTH burn out.... what a coindence. of course of me being a young 21yr old, they blamed it on me, WTF EVER

Any how, from experience, whats the best clutch and flywheel to use for the gmstg2, and possible intense stage 3 kit. buying a short throw in the near future...
please help! no cobalt friendly stores here in SA town

Exedy Hyper Clutch GB ? which flywheel... and is it safe for me to upgrade my injectors to 60lbs when i still have the gmstg2 ? or is that over kill

 

60's require a new PCM tune and isn't really needed unless you are running a 2.8 or smaller pulley.

The Exedy is an exeptional clutch from what I have read on here and the RL forums. Expensive, but extremely nice.

 

Go Exedy. When I outgrow my stock one they're getting my money.

Alright.. i figured it out. I spoke with the manager of ancira when my mom smelt the burning coming from the clutch... He stated that they have replaced many FLYWHEELS with the 2006 ss cobalts because GM (who supposed to be a great racing team) put in a shitty light flywheel.. SO HA! it wasnt my driving... those bastards!

 

if you know how to drive you DONT need a new clutch DONT waste your money , if you going to get a clutch get one that can handle like 400 whp

the cobalt clutch can handle 210lbs tourque.. my stage 2gm throws out 235 at 5500 on a cold day. i cant imagine what a stage 3 would do to it... its not knowing how to drive, the clutch lacks the ablitiy to handle the torque. thats like fishing with a 1lb line and catching a 20pound bass and the line breaks... its not the lack of knowing how to fish,.. it just WONT work.
my 2006 ss cobalt was lemon'd because of the flywheel
so its not my driving. its the enginuity behind the car itself.
