Question Shifter broken question

I was going to be getting this Chevrolet Cobalt Cable Clamp - TWM Performance

And I was wondering what the point of the base bushings was?? Worth the extra 20 bucks?.. I read the description and still don't get it, btw I'm on the stock shifter and don't feel like paying 400 for a shifter

Base bushings replace the stock rubber ones. Supposed to make the shifter feel more firm and solid in gear engagements.
For $20 along with the clamp, I'd get them.

I've yet to have an issue with my plastic one, but I suppose it's possible, wouldn't want it to happen on the strip. Yea, do it.

I would love to see how you ghetto fixed it. I had this happen to me and I could not get a ghetto fix!

That stupid little plastic piece broke when I tried to do a hard 2-3 shift. I just bought the TWM clamp to replace it. so much better.

Dammit that is EXACTLY what happened to me what I did was I put the plastic piece that broke back in the spot where it came frome, wrapped it about 10 times with green 2 inch tape from my work cut an X in it with a razor blade in between the whie pieces on the side and snapped the piece into place, I'm not saying I would go to the track with it like that but I am saying that I would trust it to get home from the track without any problems, I have been running like that for about 4 months now til I had the money to buy that hardcore clamp

OEM base bushings are far too spongy, you'll be doing yourself and your car an injustice by beefing up your clamp and not the foundation of the actual shifter assembly itself. If you want to feel it give, pull your shifter hard left and right and you can feel the base bushing smush down.

Loved the shifter bushings more than the B&M short throw in my cobalt and this is one of the first mods I did to the Speed. Makes a noticeable difference

This is how you do it, put the broken piece back in place, wrap the entire piece in 2inch tape about 5 to 10 times, I used painters tape but anything will really work. then cut an x in between where the gaps are (approximately) inbetween the white piece where it separates then push the little pizza looking slices of tape in to cover the white pieces and snap that back on to the shifter. Ball at the bottom it should be tight and snug but be able to shift perfectly now til you get the money to fix it
