Short Shift---Worth it?

iv been considering a short shifter for my 07 LS. I have to ask though, is it really worth it? Is it a big difference in shift feel? Thanks

well as it's name implies all it does is make the travel diff between gears less. which CAN equate to faster shifts.

But, the con with a short shifter/shorter throw, it makes it harder to shift. You have to put more force into the shift. That is the only con I can think of.

Well, a buddy of mine has one in his, and I think it's harder.... It's quicker to shift, you just have to put more muscle into the shift. I think.

The transmission doesn't like the quicker shift which might be what ur feeling. I havent gotten my hurst in yet so i can't speak from experience, but im sure if you take it easy and shift for normal driving it should be better

I shifted it while it was idling.... With the clutch in. It just seemed harder to push into the gears.

Mine was no harder/easier to shift with the short throw, it was defiantly quicker though, and it felt more "precise".

Little hint though, looking into the Cosmo Short Throw for the 05 Cavi, fits perfectly fine; just make sure you get a knob with it.

Moved to Drivetrain

I didn't put a SS in my Cavalier for anything other than just a better feeling shifting everyday. The OEM shifter just feels sloppy and disconnected.

I have installed a B&M on both a SS and RL and neither were harder to shift than stock. Shorter and more solid yes. I have to wonder if people that are getting harder shifts bent the shift cables.

We have both the B&M and Hurst shifters in stock (2.0l SC) and we price match if you happen to find a lower price elsewhere.
