Short throw

I dont know to much about the different shifters, but I was wondering if you could notice that much of a difference between stock and aftermarket. I am thinking about getting one, but also am considering getting mounts. Im between the two right now but cant afford both at the moment.

I have noticed a bit of difference with my B&M. It was a bit of a pain to install. I had to cut the stock one in half to remove the housing for the new one. Also, in order to be able to get into 5th without lifting the reverse lockout I had to hack and the housing. Not too bad, but I've installed MUCH easier. PM me for more specific

You have to cut with the B&M, and if you don't then you'll have to lift the reverse lockout just to get into 5th.

I have the 2.4 ss. I installed my TWM ST and i DID have to trim a little bit of the plastic off. Its not anything major, however It may be different for the supercharged model. Installation is sort of tedious and can be confusing. And yes you can most definitley feel a difference. 1st to neutral before installation is like 1st to 2nd after its installed. You'll love it. But go with hurst it looks alot better.

would it be possible to turn the stock shifter in a 2.4L to a short throw? i like the shift knob on it but i think it would look cooler if it was shorter

Well lets see. No. You could cut the shifter to make it "look" shorter. <-- Which is an extreme ricer move... But you won't get a shorter throw. You'll just get a crappy looking destroyed PLASTIC shift knob. Just get the TWM shifter with the A6 leopard or the M1 abrahms knob. Also if you go to www.twmperformance.com you can see a diagram of how a short throw works.

Same here but a little functionality with those good looks is better. I suppose you could cut the steel a little shorter but I'm just dont think its a great idea.. It might look horrible.

i cut mine and ill tell you that its nothing like a short throw shifter but you can jerk it a little harder without having to worry about breaking something which makes for a faster shift

I thought with one of the short throws you can use the stock shift knob. I almost 100% sure I read that with one of the brands. B&M maybe.

mount will give you mich nicer shifting. cause theres no engine movement. and as far as a short throw goes. b and m supply's you with a new knob. so does the hurst. the b and m comes with new metal bushing for uinder the shifter try. again making it stiffer. an as far as throw is concerned. on the b and m i noticed like a 40% reduction in throw. even says it on the box.
