Slave Cylinder/TOB problem

i got my clutch put in a month ago and everything was fine. butt now its in the shop. it has had 2 new slave/tob's and both times the car didnt make it off the lot. the boot on the slave/tob keeps ripping and leaking fluid. chevy warrentied the work cause i got a brother in law working there and also a week before i had to take it in, i complained that the clutch engaged at different spots all the time. sometimes it grabbed at the floor and sometimes at the very top. just random spots. anywho just wondering if anyone has some advice for me before i buy a new slave/tob cause this one i have to pay for lol.

Why don't you go out on a limb and give the LNF TOB a try and let us all know how it works out.

It is not being bled properly. Bleed the clutch the old school way by pumping it and someone opening the bleeder when the pedal is to the floor. Do this 5-8 times and you should be good. If the dealership is bleeding it using a vacuum pump and is using too much vacuum it will cause the slave cylinder to fail. Trust me on this. Also, what clutch do you have?

You should be fine with the + version of the Spec clutches and the non + versions were the ones with issues. Definitely put in a new slave and bleed it the old school way though.

They did the old school way first and it got to the end of the street. The vacuum way didn't make it off the lot. I dunno what to do

They should be filling the TOB before they put the trans back on. That way all of the air is out of it from the get go.

This seems to be something that happening more and more with the aftermarket clutches, especially Spec. I have the Spec stage 3+ and this happened to me too. There are a few other threads about it on here. I've looked around for an aftermarket slave/TOB and nobody makes one. If a vendor is paying attention they might notice this as a business opportunity. I tried talking to Spec, but they have not replied to me. That was at least a month ago.

Mine completely popped off the bearing, all 360 degrees.

All I can suggest is trying what I said with a brand new freshly inspected/installed slave cylinder. If that does not work, then it most likely is your clutch. I hate to say it, but the Exedy Hypersingle clutch/flywheel kit wins this category hands down no questions asked. I went through all sorts of issues with three or four different clutches from Clutchmasters, I have heard many issues with Spec clutches as well, but Exedy has got their **** straight and that is what the GM race cars used as well.

Who is doing the work? Are they bolting it down correctly?

I've never had a problem doing a clutch on an LSJ other than the first TOB I bought for a buddies car was bad, took it back and had it replaced via parts warranty, second one was perfect and still is from what I know. With the Exedy clutch though.

Bleeding isn't a big deal, the vacuum bleeder makes life much easier, no reason not to use one.
