I wouldnt bother double clutching unless you are driving a tractor or a muncie rockcrusher. Rev matching is more than good enough to let it slip into gear. I have put over 300,00 km on a standard just rev matching and the syncros were still fine. If you are having problems as your tranny gets older you might want to look at changing the gear oil.

 

oh ya? ^ hm, I just sorta developed the habit of tossing it into neutral and holding the RPM then smacking the stick into gear.

I suppose what I do does take a hair longer then whats been suggested, though, when rolling to a stop sign I'm not in a hurry lol, but I'll still try the other way

 

LOL, those heel toeing must not have small feet. I can't even touch the gas even when I just have a toe on the brake pedal.

i rev match all the time unless im coming to a complete stop. but it depends on how fast i need to stop i might rev match. never down shift to 1st. but what exactly is double clutching, ive heard of it. do you basicly...

idk never made sense to me.
always clutch in- blip- shift- clutch out. plus it sounds like a gun shot sometimes when i blip it lol. ive had friends in my passenger seat say" holy **** wtf was that... what did you do?" ecspecially if im under a bridge or in a tunnel.. sounds amazing ever since i put an exhaust on.

I always rev match without the clutch unless stopped, unfortunately the wife's truck doesnt like that in 4th but all other 5speeds I have driven have never had a problem.

my gf's 64yr old father says blip so that whr i got it from haha. basicly just tappin the gas slightly to bump it up 500-1k rpms while clutch is engaged(neutral) and you down shift. let the clutch out. you dont want to rev the crap out of it. just a slight tap(blip). practice makes perfect, just take your time with it, because you dont wana miss a gear..

No, you got a few too many steps. It's clutch in, neutral, clutch out, blip, clutch in, downshift, clutch out. No clutch slip required, clutch as fast as you like as long as the rev matching was done well

 

If I'm at highway speed, maybe like 70, and I'm coming to a complete stop, I'll just rev match it into 3rd, then 2nd. The only time I'll double clutch is if I'm going down to 2nd to punch and it'll be high up in the rpm, maybe going 50 or so... or maybe if was coming down to 3rd having been going 100+ in 4th. Seems unnecessary to double clutch it in the course of normal city driving. Once I learned how to rev match it perfectly into 2nd every time, I would keep doing it. But it takes a pretty big rev and kinda makes a scene... I find light braking w/ the engine braking of 3rd works well enough.

Basically taught myself how to drive and I thought I had it down, till 2nd gear completely failed in my 2.4. New trans under warranty... had nothing to do with how I was driving, car was just a lemon.

the entire point of a manual car is that you have complete control over the shifting you should just know by the sound and feel of the car when and how to shift

i never use the brakes unless im slamming on them hard or coming to a complete stop and ive never had a problem

and like that guy said you dont even need the clutch if you bump up the rpm's a little you can downshift without the clutch my dad does it all the time

ok well it seems that I've been double clutching the whole time, I attempted clutchless shifting today, but the shifter didnt really wanna go... so I didnt force it lol, I'll just keep using my clutch lolol

When done right its smooth and go right into gear. Mess it up and your trans will hate you. My friend learned on a company truck. Don't wanna learn on your own lol.
