Swapping 2.0 Axles to the 2.2?

So I am having some serious axle issues due to the height of my car. My passenger axle hits the motor and the solution that comes to mind is to swap to the half shaft and the equal length drive shafts. Now heres where I need help... I know that the half shaft won't slip into the F23 transmission.

So my questions are as follows...

Can I swap a f35 transmission to my 2.2?

Does the F35 axles have the same spline count as my 4x100 wheel bearings?

If the tranny can't be swapped, can the half shaft end be modified to fit into a f23?

Are there any other cars out there with the 2.2 that have a tranny that would work and half half shafts? (I heard rumor that the grand am would work)

Lastly... any other ideas how I can put these axles in my car other then doing a full motor/tranny swap or buying a new car. I like my little ion 4 door.

Thanks. I know this is a bit of a loaded question but any help would be much appreciated.

it will physically bolt up because its an ecotec but transmission mounts are different, input shaft splines are different(custom clutch would be needed), the f35 uses an intermediate shaft and equal length axles while the f23 uses a short axle for the driver side and a really long axle for the passenger side. swap just isn't worth it

It'll all swap over if u have it all. U will need a new lsj or lnf tob and lsj or lnf clutch kit. It is worth it if ur going after more power and torque. But if ur doin it just to do it not worth it, ur trans is plenty good

I am doing it because my car is on hydros and is about 1/2" from laying frame on a 225/40/18 and the passenger side axle touches the motor and this will be the 2nd time I have to replace an axle in 4 months. I wouldn't mind putting some more power to the car later on, but for now I am only doing this so my axles clear the motor.

I put hydros on because air didn't get me low enough and I wanted something different. Everyone has their style and I like mine low. If I could lay rocker with this car I would. To each their own...

but back on topic.

I am still running into this issue with my axle and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get custom axles. I am semi torn to just do a motor swap to solve the problem but I'd rather just keep my stock motor. Anyone know where I can get custom axles made up.

I found one shop but its 2200 for the ONE axle, so I may as well do a motor swap for that kind of coin.

A motor swap is going to cost WAY more than $2200. You could buy both axels for that price and about break even with the cost of a motor and tranny swap.

True, I just meant when you are invested that much you may as well go that little bit extra
