Those with the HURST Shifter STEP IN Please!
OK< Lets start a list of who is having problems, I let hurst know to check the forums.
Post the following!
Your screenname, Car type(cobalt/ redline), year of your car, if your shifter was replaced under warranty.

I think that your problem can be corrected by adjusting the cables. The one on the left side controls lateral movement of the shifter. Unclick the connector and move the shifter a little right until it is almost center, than lock the clip down. Give it a couple tries until you get it perfect.

I mean the cable is the same length, if I unclick it and move the shifter then I have to reattach it and will have to move the cable to meet the shifter no?

no, it is a threaded rod. When you disconnect the clip and move the shifter you change the length of the rod. Trust me you will understand once you actually try it. I disconnected the left cable and put the shifter close to the center. You can go to far, You will know because the car will not go into 5th or reverse. Keep doing adjustments until you have all gears, and it operates smoothly. It took me about 10 mins and made a huge difference.
Also when I installed my shifter I undid both clips and adjusted the shifter. When I did the inital install I disconnected the right cable. once it was installed I realized I had to adjust the left one as well.
Give it a try and pm me if you need any help.

So basically you disconnect it put the shifter where its supposed to be and adjust the rod to meet that spot? KOOL!

what the heck are you people talking about.
my shifter had mad slack in it,. 400 later i had all new rollpins because the other ones were sheared into 3 peices each.
