throw out bearing
Usually they make noise or squeal, sometimes only at certain places as you let the clutch pedal in or out. If they're really bad you can sometimes feel some roughness or vibration in the pedal.
Do you think yours is bad??
EDIT; You should always replace it when you put in a new clutch, no matter the mileage. It is a cheap part but can cost big $$$ to get it changed.

Sorry, never changed one on a cobalt. I'm sure someone here will help, or you can check the service manual.
