traction control on non abs car
traction control on non abs car
I have a 2009 Pontiac g5, the car came without abs and I paid that no mind when I got the car. I live in Texas and having traction control was not an issue to me since I never really snows here. I decided to supercharge my car just to have a little power under the hood. I noticed after the tune that after too much wheel spin the engine cuts off and I cannot accelerate. I talked to the guys at trifecta and they say its traction control. This is obviously affecting my runs at the 1/4 since I cannot launch the car properly. The trifecta guys told me to try launching in l or with the parking brake one click up, but unfortunately it still cuts my engine off. Does anyone know anything I can do to get rid of this annoying "traction control"? I was going to get drag radials or slicks but cannot do a burn out to heat them up, so it would be a waste of money. Have any of you had this problem? If so how can I solve it?
I have an auto transmission BTW.

Trifecta is asleep at the wheel, I had a 2007 and the only way to remove what GM calls "Torque Limiting" is to tune it out.
Althought 2009 may be different as far as another way to remove it, it was literally the most annoying thing ever. If you pedal it sometimes you can get through it but your screwed at the track.

makes, sense I had heard before that trifecta couldn't remove it. I had it removed from my sedan via hpt. You need to in the snow its literally dangerous to pull out of a street in the snow and then all of a sudden have no acceleration because your tires spun for an 1/8 of a second and the computer kills throttle.
When I rented a g5 years ago I noticed it would shift into second right away if the revs got to high or it was spinning to much. Trick was to feather the throttle just right so it doesn't shift early.
Also the revs were limited when flooring it in neutral. Trick was to hold the gas and brake and keep dipping the transmission between N and D to get it to rev higher. I love rental cars.

Well I have pedaled it to avoid it but I lose a lot of time, and at the race track I will mistakenly give it too much gas and spin the tires too much, takes like half a second.
I don't have abs so gm, being the smart company it is, decides to implement a different way to control wheel spin. It just totally cuts your engine off and have no power for about a second or two before you canaaccelerate again. Kinda hard to explain maybe I should record a video for every to see.
