What do you mean powdered metal? Are the gears cast or something? I've never looked inside our trannies.

On a positive note, Performance AutoWerks
(builds SRT-4 trannies) told me to send in my tranny and they would quote me a price to fix what's broke and beef it all up. The email was rather uplifting and they sounded interested in helping me out, so everyone keep your fingers crossed!

Maybe it's time to think about upgrading to one of these?

Yeah that is weak! This is utter bullshit too. Everyone else in the tuning world gets beefy gearsets to replace with!

As for the six speed conversion, I'm still awaiting a response on that. I want to know if it's actually going to be stronger than our POS gearset. I want hard numbers before I invest in a $3995 gearset needless to say! I'll keep you guys posted.

Powedered metal is great if it is the right mixture and heat treated properly. I don't think this trany was ever expected to handle the kind of everyone seems to be dishing out.

Good luck on the AutoWerks route. You should see if they could make a 3.00 first gear like the Quaife 6 speed conversion.
