transmissions options??

so what are our options when we start pushing these stock transmissions to the breaking point and more importantly how much is it going to cost, for those of us with the g85 we wont have to worry about the diff but what about the rest of the drivetrain??

There are really no options for the 2.0 past LSD. You could go with the F40 6speed or the racing automatic both so expensive that they really aren't an option at this time.

Ditto to what victory_red_SS said. I would only add that if you have an SS/SC, which means by definition you have the F35 trans, and you have G85, then the trans is not the next weak link. Next comes the axles. Our performance guys have been beating the hell out of these things with real good success. I can tell you however that if you get into wheel hop and don't get out of it, it is just a matter of time before you take out the entire trans.. BTW, I found out the other day that GM is coming out with a set of engine mounts that eliminates wheel hop and DOES NOT kill the ride. To answer the next question, Hopefully soon given that they do not have to get EPA cert or anything government wise. My understanding was that the development work was done on them and that the hold up would be availability. I think the accessories guys learned a lesson with the whole debacle over the demand for the stage kits.

Got this in an email from GM Sportcompact. The quote from Saab was $13,000. , seriously.

An F40 is stronger than your F35 (400Nm rating vs. 350Nm)

Is the F40 the one that you can get in a Saab 93 Aero? My buddy just got one and I'm really jelous of the 6 speed. I wouldn't mind another gear while crusing at 80 on the highway.

So basically my question is about getting the Saab 93 trans and hooking it up, and if it would be able to handle the horsepower alright

The F40 is used in one of the G6s, not sure which model, I think the GTP. I'm sure some online Pontiac dealer can get one for cheap. I'm looking now, but all seem to show N/A for price and availability.

FWIW the F35 is only supposedly rated for 258ftlbs and the f40 is good to about 298ftlbs.

I know this is an old thread... BUT... i blew my 2nd gear Synchro... and am currently looking at options. The F40 from a G6 was quoted to me at $1850, while the Non-LSD F35 was $1702. (My cost, not MSRP... I think i get 10-15% off).

I guess there is a new F40 for '07 with these Ratios (New 4th, 5th, and 6th)
First: 3.769
Second: 2.040
Third: 1.365
Fourth: 1.048
Fifth: 0.846
Sixth: 0.707
Reverse: 3.538
Final Drive Ratio: 3.55

My question is this... How will this transmission compare to my current F35 AS FAR AS SPEED IS CONCERNED.

Is there a SAAB that has the same engine but has both of these Trannies that we could compare?

There is the possibility that Quaife is going to do an upgrade for the F35 changing it to...........................a 6 speed with much stronger capabilites. The bad news is it will be $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

That would be nice... they made a 6-speed upgrade for the F25... but they said it isn't for Dragging... more Road Racing. I want something that will take me from 35 to 120-140 the quickest! And hopefully without sacrificing Highway RPM (6-Speed FTW!!!) !
