well, some cars have the 'g85' limited slip without it being called g85, ie. my car (late '07 SC). i have limited slip, but not g85 because i don't have the recaro seats, wasn't an available option for me... g85 is the recaro seats and limited slip package on 05-early07 cobalts. just clearing that up.

moving on, limited slip for our cars is torque-biased, meaning when you take a turn hard, it applies more power to the wheel with more grip as apposed to the one with less, whereas without limited slip, your wheels spin together and you chirp the tire on the inside of the turn.

with that said, for what purpose do you want the ttr mounts? to elimiate wheelhop i assume... if you're on a surface that each tire has about equal traction, both wheels will spin just like with limited slip. so, regardless of limited slip or not, you have the capacity for wheelhop, and to elimate wheelhop these ttr mounts will do the trick.

start with the tranny mounts first. i filled mine and used a custom center sleeve, pretty much maded my own poly tranny mounts. wheelhop is GONE! they're only $55+shipping, if you're mechanically inclined put em in and you'll be good to go. if that doesn't do the trick, get the solid engine mount too.

You will have MORE vibs if you only do 1 side. Meaning if you only do the tranny mounts and not the engine mount, you will have a lot more vibrations; than if you would do them all....

it helps keep the engine from moving, which in turn allows better power delivery, and yes more aggressive launches, you wheels will try to spin instead of hopping.

and like Aaron said, doing all 3 will be much better than doing just one.

*i have all 3* wouldn't recommend doing just part.

Is there any point after driving with the mounts for while where you need to consider replacement? or are they good for the life of the car?

the TTR mounts? there should be no reason to replace them.

i love the vibes i have now. they are very subtle, barely notice em but i know they're there. with the ETD on, the vibes are hardly there, but i sold it since wheelhop is kept complete at bay in my application with tranny mounts alone. now that i'm ETD-less, wheelhop is still gone, but the vibes are there... a tiny bit more, but there.

Don't get scared by the vibes, every1 worries 'will it vibrate too bad?!' like many have said do both tranny mounts and the solid upper mount to kill the vibes are greatly as possible and achieve the desired result. if you can only do the tranny mounts (much cheaper) then do those, you'll most likely still kill the hop, and the vibes aren't bad.

also, follow this how-to to have a custom-filled 3rd tranny mount extra vibration-absorbing area.

Check your RPO codes, as of mid-07 they were still using the G85 code for LSD-only models.

The tranny ones are inserts. Both (set of 2) are only about $50...

The upper engine mount by TTR, is a complete replacement, powder coated to most any color.
