Urgent! Trick Shift Fluid..?

Hey guys..

Ok, so I'm going in for my inspection on Friday. I've got almost 50k and I'm gonna have them do my tranny fluid. When I took my Dad's Monte in ('04 SS), I had them pour in the B&M Trick Shift fluid, as well as run a container of Slick-50. The tranny felt AMAZING. Honestly. So I wanted to run that in mine as well. Anyone use it in theirs yet? I believe it's only for auto's.. Just curious as to other people's impressions on it in a Cobalt. Even if it doesn't really make a difference necessarily, I have no problem spening the extra cash for good stuff. I switched to Mobil-1 synthetic oil as well.. Lemme know!!

Thanks!

haven't used it, but the manuals in the cobalt use auto tranny fluid anyways, so unless it specifically says not to use it in a manual car i would think it should be fine.

i would advise against using it. my shop has built quite a few race/performance transmissions and some of our customers insist on using the b&m fluid. we have had mixed results. we had one burn the bushings out of it twice, and after the 2nd time we had the guy switch to dexron 3 and no more lube problems. trick shift is a weird fluid, it sacrifices lubrication for a slicker, thinner fluid so in theory you get more power to the ground. it is designed for race applications and id advise against using it in a daily driven car, unless you are going to change your tranny fluid every time you change your engine oil.

id recomend dexron VI, or if you want synthetic go with royal purple or redline, however it isnt needed.

trick shift fluid is a type-F fluid which is meant for fords..in vehicles that require dexron?mercon or ATF+4 it makes it shift harder..id advise against it

But the Royal Purple actually will help me out? I'm just trying to help out my tranny as much as possible.. I mean, I've got the Shift Plus until I tune, I'm getting the fluid, and I'm adding a cooler.. I think that'd be a good series of starts..

I already got it done. I think they put Dextron back in, but I'm not positive. It is what it is. Thanks for the info, guys.
