Warranty on CV joint boots. Help?

I noticed while under my car that my cv joint had come apart, symmetrically like it wore out on the accordion type part. My warranty is good until 6/05 of this year, and I'm at 80,000 miles. the GM coverage states
covered for five years/100,000 miles*

General Motors will warrant each 2007 and 2008 model year passenger car, light duty truck or van for 5 years, or 100,000 miles/160,000 kms. with no deductible, whichever comes first, from the original in-service date of the vehicle, for warrantable repairs which are required as a result of defects due to material and/or workmanship to the Powertrain components as listed below:
Drive Systems

Final drive housing, all internal lubricated parts, axle shafts and bearings, constant velocity joints, axle housing, propeller shafts, universal joints, wheel bearings, locking hubs, front differential actuator, supports, front and rear hub bearings, seals and gaskets.

Now I know I can call this a defective axle, and at the very least call it a "seal".
I called to make an appointment to get my lock cylinder swapped out ( I got a recall notice and mine keeps locking up ) and I figured while it is there I can see about having that addressed. Well, they said it isnt covered. I really dont buy that. I tried to call warranty number and they suggested I talk to dealer to see if its covered. Am I dead in the water here or is there someone I can contact? Or are they really right it isnt covered? I have difficulty believing an oil slinging axle prone to failure at any time is a non warranty issue...........

I'd call some other dealers to see if they would cover it. I'd imagine it would be covered though.
