wheel hop where to post and look

to make a long story short, mt 08 sport 2.4 manual has a tendency to wheel hop. it dose it whether i dump the clutch or just hammer the gas after it is out. my car is stock for now it seems that this should be taken care of before anything else is done right? so i am hoping to find some ideas on what is out there like who make what and so on.

oh it seems to do better with the traction control off or it might just be my imagination i dont know

cobalt are infamous for wheel-hop issues.
An engine tourque damper will help, as will polyurethane transmission mount bushings.
ottp's rotated mounts would be the best fix but idk about the mounts on the ss/sc vs those on the sport. If the engine/trans mounts are the same, then get the rotated mounts or an etd. Otherwise you can only get the poly bushings

*Moved to Drivetrain*

There are tons of products available from many of our Supported Vendors that help to reduce/eliminate wheel hop.

so your new ones are broke? i dont really plan to make hard launches i dont race. i just like to get on it some times the car is fun to drive. but even after the clutch is out and i hammer on it it still breaks loose and hops some. on the other hand this may be why i dont launch it it feels like it could be really hard on the car

I think it is bull **** that gm realizes they screwed up on the design and know we got wheel hop. Instead of recalling the cobalts they want to sell you the parts to fix the wheel hop problem.THATS BULLSHIT.

Just like the stock clutch that comes in the base models .They put it in the ss and expect it to hold an extra 55 to95 more hp,bullshit.
Their fix sell you what should of been in there the first place.

i hear ya dude but at the same time they probably figure the best way to stop it is to not drive the car hard. they probably did this for warranty reasons.

Yea but with all the research gm put in the car they knew about this problem before it hit the market. Before they released the cobalt they should of fixed the problems, clutch, wheelhop. But now they want to sell you the stuff to fix their problems.
that is still messed up.

you make a good point it may have been one place they saved money on. they still should have fixed it on the ss and sport models. thats the biggest downfall to my car its fast in first and second no traction, 3rd and 4th suffers from low torque so i may just trade it in in a few years for a new comaro or mustang

Currently the OTT mounts are only for the SS/SC/TC. 2.2/2.4L tranny mounts are different due to the F23 transmission it uses.

We do offer a upper engine mount and poly trans bushings for the 2.4L manual and auto trans. Check out www.TurboTechRacing.com They will help reduce/eliminate wheel hop...

how long did it take for yours to break in all the way, I have a front poly mount, and I love the control it adds, but the vibes can be a little much at idle some times, though it has calmed down a little so far. BTW, these are a great way to limit wheel hop on ions/cobalts/HHRs/G5s alike, they are 1/10th the cost of the rotated mounts, and help with the rubber banding of the drivetrain and help shifts be smoother more consistently.

ok, so I have 580 miles left, thanks, BTW, for NA cars, just replacing the front mount is all you really need, doesn't make the vibrations too bad like replacing them all will, for forced induction cars, I can't imagine these helping near as much as the rotated ones.
