The '06 first dyno. happy :P

I threw the 'balt on a dyno finally on a dyno day full of snow and cruddy weather.

She made 213whp and 195wtq. I was a little sad at these numbers til I realized that we're at ~4,500 EL

Man. I really want to try driving down to sea level and dyno the car there. I would love to see if I actually gain power.

Going to be dynoing the mustang too on saturday. I figure she's losing about 13.5% hp due to elevation, so I may barely be up in the 200hp range. We'll see. Have fun guys.

Good numbers for stock pulley, especially for the elevation.

elevation kills power. That's why you see cars run 1 second or more slower in the mountains then at sea level.

According to my calculations I'm losing somewhere in the range of 30hp. That's pretty massive if you ask me. 13.5% power loss. pretty serious. I'm probably going to cry like a little girl when I see the Mustang numbers.

I believe I read somewhere that cars with FI aren't effected as badly by higher elevation then NA cars. If I can find the article, I'll try to post it.

From what I read, turbo cars are not affected as badly because of the wastegate. I don't know EXACTLY how to explain it, but from what I understand the wastegate will just open later, allowing the turbo to produce the same amount of boost as at sea level. (They will just be more laggy and smaller torque band)

Superchargers don't have that luxury, as far as I understand, and therefore have nearly the same supposed losses as N/A cars.

I think what they meant with FI when traveling from a low elevation to high elevations or vice versa, the ecm can compensate so your car wont run like crap or die on you. If you had a carb and you went from sea level to those elevations you would have to adjust your carb or your car would run like crap if at all. At those elevations, the oxygen level drops making it more difficult to make hp.

if you did dyno then you should have set it to SAE correction and it will account for the Density Altitude of the air... whats the closest drag strip to you? tell me time and date you dyno'd and i'll post the DA for ya... i bet the air pressure up there is crap, i know when im up in the mountains at 5300ft i usually see 25.4in/mg and where i live at 700ft its 28.9-30 all the time... boost will go up 4lbs just to make up for the air lol
