Cobalt Turbo Bolt on Dynojet Results

2008 Cobalt SS Turbo

Dyno tune on 20PSI
Injen hot pipe
Airbox mod with drop in filter
3 inch Catless ZZP Down pipe
Muffler delete

295 WHP 350 LB TQ

Same mods as above and added

Got rid of airbox mod and replaced it with Hahn Intake
ZZP Intercooler
Treadstone 3 inch exhaust with a resonator and no muffler
Car Spikes 22 PSI at around 5K but tapers off to 20PSI @ 6500

315 WHP 362 LB TQ

Tuner and dyno are the same , Temp the first dyno was 93 degrees , Today I think it was like 84 degrees ( pretty similar)

Got a question..

Do you find your throttle response (low end torque) sluggish with 3" exhaust and muffler delete? Reason I ask, I added a catback with a straight through free flow muffler and the throttle response sucked. Took care of it by adding a silencer (modified for more flow) to the tip.

Nice numbers. Its giving me something to look forward to when i purchase an intake. My setup will be ? intake, Hahn cat back, Synapes hot pipe, HAHN cold pipe, Mandrel Exhaust catted DP, and HPTune. Spikes 25 then bleeds down to 20-21. Last time on the dyno before DP, cold pipe, and retune i did 276/340. So seeing your numbers makes me belive tht ill be at least to the 300 mark. Thanks again

got a pic of the sheets? I hope you didn't spend all that money for just a peak gain of 20whp and 12wtq.

Did you do the second set of mod's at the same time? What do you feel was the biggest gain between the intake, intercooler, and catback?

My car put down 291whp and 311wtq on a dynojet with an HP tune and a K+N drop in. I've since added a catless downpipe and will be installing a ZZP intercooler and charge piping. I'm thinking of adding an intake to the car but i've yet to see back to back gains from running an aftermarket intake.

I bought the intake used for like 170 shipped, the intercooler was 400 and the exhaust was like 320. I have a sheet somewhere but not readily available, but I can for sure get one if needed. I am ok with picking up 20WHP and 12 WTQ the mid range #'s were a little better as well.

I had an nice airbox mod before and went to a hahn intake which probably didnt net a big gain, the intercooler is for down the road seeing as I was running the same amount of boost as I was with the stock one. The big gain in my opinion was from opening up the exhaust. The re tune was only 100 dollars so I am not upset by any means.

Next week I am going to a 50/50 Ethanol / 93 tune so I hope to pick up another 20-30 WHP. At the end of the day for around 1600 making 340-350WHP in that car is a win, considering my 05 GTO I had made 349 WHP on the EXACT SAME dyno with the exact same tuner with Pacesetter headers, catless mids and flowmaster mufflers while weighing 800 lbs more.

I didn't get on it until I got my new tune, but the big gain from the three mods was the exhaust for sure since I already had the air box mod. The intercooler is more for down the road when I do a turbo swap and just to help the car run cooler day in day out for DD purposes.

291 WHP with an HP tune and a drop in, I would just do a hot pipe, down pipe and a 3 in exhaust and call it a day. You will make anywhere from 310-320 with that set up and it will still be reliable. Keep it around 20-22 lbs of boost.

With the intercooler, charge pipes, and ZZP intake tube mine ended up putting down 318whp and 364wtq. That was with an HP tune and welding tip mod that i'm not too crazy about. I've ran it off and on for 25k miles and the car seems to make a ton of torque and then fall on it's face top end.

I'm doing a clutch and aluminum flywheel, MPx crank pulley, and possibly a muffler delete for my next dyno pull. After that the welding tip is coming out.
