My results with a bolt-on/tuned 08

The car was dynoed on a Dynojet with all runs using SAE and a smoothing of 5. All runs made in 3rd gear.

Stock 243whp and 234wtq - 13.5 at 104mph
HP Tune and K+N drop in - 291whp and 311wtq - 13.4 at 110mph
ZZP downpipe, charge piping, and intercooler plus welding tip mod - 310whp 366wtq - 13.3 at 111 before the intercooler and CP
ZZP air intake tube - 318whp and 364wtq

Damn this is a fun car.

Today - ZZP downpipe, charge piping, and intercooler plus welding tip mod - 310whp 366wtq

I had my tuner turn down the air load tables low rpm as I didnt want the turbo to spike crazy boost numbers as it would with the welding tip in place. Telling the operator not to lug the car low in third gear full boost came on late at 3800rpm and it still responded with 366wtq!

Damn this is a fun car.
plus welding tip mod

You mean *Pill Mod* to hold higher boost?
If so?....That's what's giving you added power. I'd be careful with the PILL.

I hate the fact that after a bunch of bolt ons, the LNF doesn't really gain a lot of HP. 19whp with all the money spent isn't much IMO. But you can't argue with a 55wtq gain. That's alot!

I must say the graph looks pretty bad too. After peak torque the power drops off very quick
. I wonder if an aftermarket air intake will actually help out that much in the higher rpm.

Ive ran the pill mod off and on now for about 24k miles. I had the car logged but never ran it down the track or dyno. The car did pick up a full mph at the track after the downpipe install but i doubt the intercooler or piping were worth much of a gain

The pill (welding tip) is fine as long as you know when to WOT with it.

Such worries in this forum.

Really.

IC and piping are minimal at best for gains - however you had a situation where it was better to replace the shitty plastic end tanks of the IC anyway. Good for hot lapping however, even though I found the stock IC okay.

I attemped some more pulls with the addition of the mpx crank pulley, 3" treadstone catback, and an AIS meth kit with too big of a nozzle. I removed the welding tip in favor of the new HP tuners wastegate tables.

When dialing in the meth kit the 3rd pull netted 389wtq on 26psi and the stock clutch had enough and signed off. I got home and changed out the fluid on the clutch just to limp it along for a few weeks. When it does hold it feels pretty violent Not that it's a good comparison but I managed to egde out a friends supercharged foxbody from a roll and that traps 114mph. I just tuned that car on the dyno and it put down 340whp and 366wtq through a nonlockup aod. It's best pass has been 11.7 at 114 with a 1.71.

Redyno in a few weeks with the clutchmasters fx400 and lightweight flywheel along with a smaller meth nozzle. I'm shooting for 340ish whp and the same 390wtq if all goes well.
