06 SS/SC Speaker recommendations
My plan is to run the stock sub off of a bridged 2 channel amp. To couple that I want to replace the speakers since I am now running and aftermarket HU to the stock amp.
I picked up all the wiring and cables I need to power two amps and new speakers all around from KnuKoncepts. Also picked up 50 square feet of FatMat. Now I need to select speakers.
My thoughts:
I like to keep brands together and currently all of my stuff is Pioneer
I want to just replace the components up front with a set of higher watt externally crossed units.
3 way 6x9's in the rear
Both of those run off of a 4 channel amp.
I was thinking that I would run the speakers with an amp that put out 100w RMS per channel at 4ohms and the OEM sub at 100w RMS of off a bridged 2 channel amp.
Suggestions on speakers please. I am going for cost efficiency on this one, not trying to be the loudest guy on the block either. I just want quality sound with decent bass and clarity. Eventually I will replace the stock sub as well.

not sure about the ohm's and such but i'm running some nice rockford fosgate's all around on the inside and they sound much better than the stockers. actually i got ones that matched the ohms of the stocks. with an amp i'm sure they'd pound out a lot more bass. but i got a sub for that ****. clarity wise they are great. might have cost... idk maybe 250 for all 4 corners no tweeters. good luck with the search
I was bouncing around the idea of keeping the stock amp, but I am better off not. I dont feel like doing a bypass either. Instead I will be running a 4 channel amp that does 70 watts RMS at 4 ohms per channel via the RCA's on the HU. The sub I will use the OEM sub powered by a 100 watt RMS mono block at 2 ohms. Both amps should cost about $100. $75 in KnuKoncepts wiring and now I need to pick speakers. I want to keep the tweeters so I am on the hunt for a set up that uses external cross overs and flush mount tweeters.
5 ways sound like overkill for the rear. I used to run infinity kappa stuff and my god it was clean. Those ******* cut through a 50x4 fosgate and 500x1 fosgate power hooked to 3x10w0 jls. But I'm on board with you...too old for that. I just want clean. Sounds like you got the right idea. The pioneers should be clean with enough power behind them. Maybe check out their premier line?
Pioneer makes great stuff, you just have to research some as they have a line for almost every budget. Their low end stuff (walmart, kmart, etc) products are just that, cheap. Pioneer Premier is going to be the high end stuff.
I bought a Boss Amp on eBay for the sub. I will be able to put 100 watts RMS to the OEM sub, lets see how it sounds and how it lasts. If it pops I already picked out a shallow mount pionner sub that can do 200 watts to put in the OEM box.

I had Alpine type S in my old Probe GT and have nothing but good things to say about them. I would imagine the R's are even better.

If you are using the stock amp to power them then youll want a 2 ohm speaker. OEM is 2 Ohms. If the amp is running 2 ohms for those speakers and you puts 4's on there, i believe, you will loose power to the new speakers. Basically, they wont be as loud at the same volume level as a 2 ohm speaker would.
Since I didnt get too much help here I have been reading and learning like crazy. I will help you as much as I can as long as I feel confident and can verify that I am correct. I have a general understanding of it all so I have just been going in depth with rating and currents.
By the way; I have use these guys in the past and LOVE them. Great people and great products.
Amp Installation Kits, HDMI Cables
I just bought all of my wiring needs to bypass the stock amp from them. Highly recommend them as they are fair and helpful if needed.

Nope no factory pioneer stuff, but got the stock sub box and am going to put in a new 10'' low profile sub, will have to add an amp, as well as change out the 6.5'' and 6x9 speakers as well as tweeters. I need to do the power conversion at the same time
I don't like wiring though.
