'07 Base to Pioneer?
I've got the 2007 LS balt, and just wondering how tough it is to get XM and Onstar working with the 6 cd mp3 HU if I found one on eBay. I'm considering instead of the pioneer unit getting this one because it's got the LCD on it and it looks like it's not aftermarket (since it's not technically). Since I don't have power locks or windows some features of onstar obviously wouldn't work, but would the rest of the features like the monthly email with info in it, emergency response, etc work?
Thanks!
Thanks!

should. since onstar is still retained with ur expensive harnesses it leads me to believe the radio itself doesnt have anything to do with it other then speaker outputs. Even then swapping stock to stock they should all be made to handle onstar functions especially the pioneer units

To the Onstar question:
Onstar has its own module. The only thing the HU has to do with it is to put it to the speakers. IMO, I'd rather not have Onstar. If my car would ever come equipped with it, I'd personally remove the module for it (Looks likely since its now basically standard on nearly every newer GM vehicle from 08+). If you really do want it, you could probably add some basic functions to it, but you would need to buy all of the parts associated with it (Gets expensive very fast... even with GMPD's lower prices.) You would also have to do quite a bit of electrical work to tie it in.

IIRC, there is a module for XM Radio in the car that enables it and XM identifies it by that particular module, not the HU. You will need to head to the dealer for the HU anyways since the HU will be locked when you put it in (You will need it flashed to match your car's VIN. Thats how the theftlock works.). If for some reason the new HU causes problems, you could probably get XM to switch your subscription to the new HU (But I doubt this will need to be done).
The XM module is in the rear deck lid between the 2 rear speakers ( on the top side). Since the XM subscription runs through the VIN number on the car as long as the new HU is flashed to match the VIN you should be fine subscription wise.
That being said, getting the new unit properly flashed to match the car is the real problem, as I understand it rarely works, one member here accomplished it but it took alot of work and he had a hook up through GM. It is addressed in the sticky at the top of the section I suggest you read through it.
