Ok so, like the title says im rocking some 15s in my balt, i know ima prob gonna get the usual flame or wutev. I enjoy the HUGE bass...

Just looking for some suggestions besides going down in size. or if im ok and just leave it.
Im kind of a noob to the stereo thing but have learned some from doing my own so here it goes.

I have 2 Sony XS-L152P5 15's Rated at 1500W MAX, 450W Rated at 4 oms each
Sony 1,000w Amp XM-1652Z MAX 380W at 4 oms, Rated 200w RMS at 2 oms
Sony CDX-GT330 H/U
Rockford Fosgate 4gauge amp wiring kit
dynamat covering all of trunk and some of rear seat
dynapad covering bottom and sides of trunk.
foam filled rear seat arm rests
(the area behind rear seats arm rests if you take off the panels)
Optima Yellow top

Any suggestions would help thanks

 

pics? how the hell did you get all that to fit??

 

Had to fold the front seats forward and remove the back seats to get the subs in box with amp attached into the trunk. Everything else was alot of hard work but fits and sounds good. I know the subs are a bit much but im not sure if i could get a bigger amp, or if i need a capacitor, or what not, just looking for ideas...ill try posting pics in a lil while.

Edit: actually maybe better postpone those pics till tommorrow, just seen how dark it is outside..lol

 

if those can really take 450rms each (which i dobut they can) your underpowering the **** out of them if it only does 200w at 2 ohms, which i also dobut...the lower the ohm the more power the amp puts out...maybe you meant 4 ohm = 200w and 2 ohm = 380w?

either way your still underpowering the **** out of them

ur majorly underpowering ur system. toss 1 of ur 15s its unnecessary. if u properly power 1 15 itd be helllllla loud. get a proper amp like a JL 1000/1v2 . ull be soooo happy

As for helpful future advice, you should probably consider an amp capable of pushing those sub's.
As there are problems with overpowering systems, there are also problems with underpowering systems as well.

What you really should aim for is a system that's well matched. As long as you follow that rule, your system will always sound better than many of the nay-sayers will imply and the components will last longer.

But never be afraid to try brands people strayed away from. Many of these folks are going off of hear-say or off of old experiences. Over the years good brands went cheap on materials and craftsmanship and some "bad" brands started spending a little more.

 

You are very underpowered. Remember to gain match the amp with DMM to prevent clipping and distortion.

 

ok the numbers i got from the manuals that came with each the subs and amp..i get a hella lot of bass as is from 1 both goin sounds about the same..its enough, when turned up half way, to hear me froma few blocks away according to some of my friends.

I may be saying the actual numbers wrong, this is why i say ima noob, it also depends on how they are hooked up, the amp does have a hi output connection. I have a friend with pretty much the exact same setup diff subs but same amp and its pretty loud.

So according to everyone so far, it sounds like, is saying bigger amp or drop a sub?

Here is the specs from the manual of the amp. I have to type them out, so bear with me, i cant find the specs online from sony.com or sonystyle, i cant even find the subs themselves on their store.

btw with a little tweaking to the stero eq3 i have had it all the way up and it sounds clear. Rattles the **** out of everything but is loud and clear. It has never overheated the way i have it, never blown a fuse, ima fan of sony although i know some dont approve. Just loooking for some suggestions on how to either make more power or run safer or what not.

But seriously... how many ohms are the subs ie: are they wired in parallel or series if they are dual voice coil. Either way you are underpowered. I'm sure it pounds, but it would pound harder properly powered.

They are 4 according to the specs sheet in the manual ima noob at this **** thats y im asking all these questions, i first learned about stereos and it was all wattage to me but after doin my system and learnin off a friend its more than that i know i just dont get how it relates. I guess they are parallel, each sub has its own 2 wires to the amp so...

I got the sony's and they are stayin till they pop, now the amp could be gettin a changin lol

Yeah i know kicker is a good brand, JL is 2 i just went with sony. I guess the 15s are rare too.

Well after much debating and input from everyone it looks like ima have to get rid of the 15's anyway. I got sportlines on, and MSR 045 18 x 8's with 235/40/18 tires and with the subs in goin like 70 on the freeway if i hit a big enough dip in the road the weight makes the fenders scrape the very outside of the tires so..weight reduction is necessary (no fat chicks allowed) lol

Prob gonna have to go with something simple anyway like a single 12" sub and compact amp.

fyi i have much more weight then u (with 2 15s) and same size tires. i haven't had any problems with the fenders scraping the tires... yes mine scrape (i dont think theres ever a time i couldnt go to the back and rip off a piece of rubber) but **** it... gotta pay to play right?

 

you could use the pvc shims in the rear for more clearance

 

yup, i was like **** it but yeah, those tires are gonna go alot quicker so ima try some 1/2" PVC or possibly rubber shims in the rear then pop the subs back in and see wut happens.

I dont really value my hearing actually seeing as how i work in plumbing/construction so Im pretty much guaranteed at least a bad back, bad knees, fucked up ears or something or another if i stay in the trade, which i am, but hopefully thats when experience will come in handy and i can be the 50 yr old fat guy yellin at all the young bucks cuz i cant hear, or walk
