2007 Cobalt SS Window Wiring problem
2007 Cobalt SS Window Wiring problem
Hi! this is my first post here.
My 07 cobalt ss has never had windows working since i bought it. I poked around with a multimeter and all the fuses are fine but the window fuse itself is getting 0 volts car on off or otherwise.
I have a few theories but i can’t find anything to back them up. My sunroof also doesn’t work.
I have a quick release steering wheel installed so i don’t have any of the steering wheel media controls or any of that plugged in airbag included
i’m curious if this could be the issue. someone suggested that could be the issue with my radio not working aswell but i think i just need a new wiring harness and that will work fine as it does get voltage there from the factory harness and i think the harness i bought is just not wired correctly.
What im curious about is how the windows don’t get any power to the BCM fuse box. The ignition has been replaced so that could be causing the issue as well. I’m sure the window motors are probably bad too but i can’t troubleshoot that until i get power to the fuses. I’m not sure if sunroof has voltage or not. I’ve checked every single fuse in the whole car and they are all good.
The last thing is my ecm has been spliced in some locations. I’m pretty sure it’s not that though as i’m LSJ/T swapped so all the supercharger components are gone. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. No Ac and No windows is killing me this summer haha.

well if you know you have the wrong wiring harness it may be sending voltage through the data line and messing with the car. That was something i experianced first hand with the grey vs blue plug on an 06. is that likely on an 07? probably not but hey worth a shot to see about re-wiring that and maybe you get some stuff working again
that’s my bad i meant the radio wiring harness was wrong. If any data was getting sent to the wrong place it would be due to the splicing up by the ecu but i don’t think that has anything to do with it. I would mess with it but that would require a full engine rebuild just to get all the wiring right again.
My interesting resolution
I was looking at wiring diagrams all morning and realized the problem could’ve been coming from the relay before the window and sunroof fuse. In my case ( 2007 ss) the relay 32 was missing. This was super confusing because it’s on the back side of the bcm which is located on the drivers side kick panel. it’s the only relay on that side so figuring that out was really annoying. But i realized it just wasn’t there so i bought a relay from oreilys plugged it in and had it fixed the same day. Messaged the old owner and he thinks they got stolen when he had his car worked on because they stopped working after that visit.
hope this helps someone else. If your relay is still there just try unplugging it and back in and it might help.
