35w bulb in 55w ballast

so i got two sets of HIDs from a buddy with a killer price. now one set is 55w 6k and the other 35w 8k. now i personally like the 8k better. the problem is one of my ballasts for the 8k set (35w ballast) is broken...i knew it was. so i have two working 55w ballast. can i use the 8k 35watt bulbs in the 55w ballasts. i ran them for a lil bit drove about 5 miles and they are still working fine. no burning smell or anything. so my question is this gonna last or will they burn out prematurely?? if i must i will switch to the 6k bulbs that are designed for it.

I run 55w ballast's with 35w bulbs too. Have been for almost a year as well with no problems. If it catches on fire, its a present from god, I hope this piece if **** burns to the ground, lol
