4 ch amp RCA question

do i need to run 2 sets of rcas from the HU to the 4ch, one for rears and one for front speakers? seems like i would only need once since all 4 speakers were playing the same thing..

Some (most?) 4-channel amps can run off a single set of RCAs for the source. If you want to use the fader on the head unit, you'll need to run separate RCAs for front and rear channels though.

The output power of the RCA's 2-5 volts usually is a huge factor in how well the amp preforms. If you have an amp that puts out 500 watts hooked up to a deck that only puts out 2 volts on the preouts its going to feel like your only getting 300 watts out of that amp.

When you use y adapters or runn all 4 channels off one set of preouts then you split the power of the RCA outs in half, and greatly reduce the power output of your amp
