Add unlock/lock button

I have a 2007 LS, so it didn't originally come with power locks. I was desperate for a keyless entry, so the dealer installed aftermarket lock actuators and the keyless entry system for me. Now, the thing is that they didn't install buttons to lock/unlock the locks electronically. I want to put a button possibly on the dash that'll do that. The keyless entry reciever is under the driver's side dash. I don't know what kind it is, but its very small with a clear surrounding box that says "Saturn." Any ideas on how to do this would be great.

I m in the same boat as you, Ls, I added keyless entry myself. What I m thinking of doing this summer is just running a nice, factory style switch for mine. The door lock actuators on mine have two wires, I think they are just pos. and neg. so I m thinking you should be able to tye into those from each side and just wire the switch in like that.

Well, i don't really want to break into the door panels if they are difficult. Are they hard to take off? I just figured I would get to both of the actuators by splicing the wires from the keyless receiver that leads to the actuators and I just run them both to one switch and I'll put it in the center console somewhere.

The door panels are actually really easy to get off, its 3 screws and the window crank, thats it. However, you definitly could jsut splice in at the box like you re talking.

Hmm. Well, were you planning on cutting the hole for the button in the door panel also? Where could I get an factory button from?

This summer I m adding power windows also, so while I ve got the door insert off to add the power window buttons, I m going to recover the insert with black and hopefully add the pwr lock switch. I m thinking I could either find the lock buttons on ebay, or out of some junkyard car. I m not worried if they look exactly the same as the factory cobalt ones, I jsut want them to look factory. Who knows, I may end up trying to find some cobalt door inserts with the switches in them, and just wire it up that way.
