Trouble reading CEL

I recently had a CEL pop up in my car. Today I brought my car to the dealer to get the CEL read and they said there OBDII scanner won't connect to my computer cause of aftermarket radio I have installed in my car.. How is this possible? They said I need to remove my aftermarket radio and install my factory radio for the scanner to work.

I know a lot of things rely on the factory radio to work but I didn't know the OBD2 scanner did too...

I didn't know this either. This really frustrates me, I don't want to have to take out my radio everytime I need work done on my car.

i think they have a harness that keeps all the factory chimes and the DIC etc. Did you use that? If not, I'd suggest getting that and it should allow everything to work like stock, but you might wanna search I'm not 100% positive.

Sounds like a line....

Take the car to Autozone, they'll pull the code for you for free.......

What do you mean a line? I went to advanced auto first before I went to the dealer cause I didn't want to deal with the dealership. Advanced auto coudn't acess the code either but I just thought there OBDII scanner wasn't up to date.

Do you guys realize how big of a problem this is if this isn't an isolated issue?

Hows it a load of bull if my car will not connect to the obd2 scanner. The dealer tells me its because of my radio so i'm gonna remove it tomorrow.

I have an OBD scanner too and I took my factory radio out ...as in a big hole in the dash...seeing how noone seems to make a wiring harness for the 07's but all things aside with the radio out and nothing else in it the scanner connected and ran all of its little diagnostic crap just fine....id really take your balt somewhere other than your chevrolet garage...it is very possible that it will save you a big pain in the ass IMO

Well it looks like it might be something wrong with your OBD port, and the dealer is just blaming it on the radio install
