Aftermarket stereo blip
Aftermarket stereo blip
I'm having some difficulty with a pioneer i'm trying to put in my cobalt. I already know that the stereo itself is good and all of the wiring is good. What its doing is only playing sound if the car is running, and even at that it will *blip* every 4-5 secs where the speakers just seem to shut off. If you then shut the engine off and leave the key in the acc position the radio continues to blip more frequently for about 30 secs until there is no sound coming from the speakers whatsoever.
The question is the stock stereo is controlled by some module, I did not use the special wiring harness that accounts for that I just used a plain metra harness. I hooked the 12V switched wire to another wire on the stock harness...is this correct or should I simply jump that to another switched source like the wiper blade fuse?

Hook the 12v Red wire to a fuse in the glove box (power moonroof, RDO fuse, etc).
I don't think it would ruin the radio that fast, should pop the fuse on the back of the radio before it pops.
