Aftermarket sub Question
Aftermarket sub Question
how do you turn a 4ohm sub into a 2ohm?
i heard you take the + from onside of the sub an run it the the - on the other side?
then ad another wire to the - side an then only run 1 side of the - n + ?
is that correct?
can someone post a fast diagram of how to do so if thats not a ture statement that i posted
all input/help will be nice
thanks in advance

it is only possible by either reconing the sub with a new cone/voice coil assembly with that load on it (for single VC applications)
or
if you have a dual 4 ohm sub, you parallel the coils to make a single 2 ohm configuration.
This would be done on a dual 4 ohm sub: take enough wire to connect the + on one coil to the + on the other coil, then do the same for the -. Once the two coils are polarity correct and jumped together, all thats left is connecting the sub to the box terminal or amp if you aren't using a terminal cup. Take the wires from the terminal cup and hook them to either of the coils on the sub tat you already jumped together.
Here's a picture, if it works:
