I got 2 12 inch alpine type Rs. Would it be better to get one alpine mrd-1000 or 2 alpine mrd-500, one for each sub???

either way you go would be okay as long as your amp will supply you subs enough power. the only thing is with two amps more than likely double the price. just make sure your amp and subs RMS power are pretty close.

ok...here is the answer you want and its from an Advance MECP car audio installer... go with the 2 mrp 500... reason being if you go with one amp you will be running it at 4 ohms, those subs need 500watts rms per sub... now if you run 2 amps you can run each sub at 2 ohms, doubling the power from the amps, less ohms means amps work easier... sub sounds better... you are happy!!! (also that is the setup i have in my car...X) )

1st. 2 amps are gunna be much more expensive to get then 1, you will also have to buy twice as much wiring/amp install stuff.

2nd. im not sure what ohm type r's you have but im pretty sure that they are ALL dual 4 ohm or dual 2 ohm...the guy above me is right. if you wire both the dual 4 ohms together you will get a 1 ohm load and the mrp1000 isnt 1 ohm stable, if you have the dual 2 ohm subs, you would be wiring them to .5 ohms which also wont work...

i would look in to a rockford fosgate t10001bd, which is 1 ohm stable and is a higher quality amp anyways.

If you wire the amp to the first + and - of each sub, then connect the other + and - on each sub together you can come back with a 2ohm load on 2 2ohm DVC's
These are your wiring options:

2x2ohm DVC's =
0.5 ohm
2 ohm
8 ohm

2x4ohm DVC's =
4 ohm
1 ohm
