I searched and did not find anything 100%


i have 2 12" Arc Audio 1200wat subs with a audiofonics 1000w amp. This was left over from my Grand Prix.



Is there anyway i can make this work with the stock HU? Or will it sound too shitty?

Sure is...I'm running 2 Rockford Fosgate 10's pushed by a 1,000.1 Massive D-Class amp, on the stock head-unit and factory Pioneers. Un-hooked the factory sub, and tapped into the factory wires I believe, other then the remote wire which had to be completely run. Sounds GREAT!! Turned the gain up a bit on the amp so I could use the factory speakers for highs and mids, and only have to turn the bass up one or two notches on the head unit for some nice thump.

 

not familiar with this particular HU... where do i tap the remote into? or will i see it in the back of the HU

 

you cant most stock units dont have any type of remote wire... from what ive herd tapping the sunroof fuse is your best bet

 

Yea you can do it for sure...only thing is if you do you will need to upgrade your highs or your bass will drown out the rest of the music cause the stock speakers just arent loud enough. I mean you can turn the amp down and it will be alright but if you plan on having them beat as hard as they can then you will def need to upgrade the factory speakers.

Havent done this in a balt yet but ive had two cavaliers and a blazer with subs and the stock head unit and speakers and i always had to go soon after getting them and replace the highs to make up for the bass of the woofers.

 

I have a power acoustik amp, and it only has the rca inputs. And i was wondering if i can use this with my factory hu? and if i can what do i need?

 

all you need is an line-output converter . go to any wal-mart / best buy or whatever and buy that its self explainitory

is there a how to? like which wire i take off the stock sub? and wire pattern? with the converter be cobalt specific? do you happen to have a pic or a site that sells em?

 

I need info on this as well, i'll be getting a free amp and sub in the near future and want to do this just to see what it sounds like.

 

well ints not hard to hook up . you just tap into your rear deck lid speakers and hook the wires to spec and plug the rca's into the amp and boom !!

 

A line out converter is not car specific. And if your adding subs, the best place to tap in would be at your rear speakers.

 

how do i know the wire color code?

 

Even if you already have the factory sub?

 

That depends on if you don't want the factory sub to get power or not. You could always disconnect the factory sub and use those wires to connect to the line converter to hook up your amp and new sub.
