Ok so you will need 2 or 4 relays, depending on how you want them to opperate....one for the passenger side and one for the driver side......or one for each high beam and one for each low beam(4 all together)....If you use the 5 pin relay you will need 2 relays and if you use the 4 pin relays then you will need 4.....On a 5 pin relay you have 5 terminals and they all have a number associated with them....30 is the constant power or battery power...85 is ground...86 is your switching power (which would be the power wire that comes from your factory lowbeam)....87 is the power out when the relay is on (this would go to your low on the aftermarket lights).....and the 87A contact is the power out when the relay IS NOT turned on.....the 87A would go to the high beams on your aftermarket lights.....The way to get this to work properly is to hook up terminals just as i have said.....what this will accomplish is that when your low beam is turned on, the relay will energize and send power to the 87 terminal which in turn will light up the low beam on your aftermarket lights.....when you flip your light switch inside the car to high beam, the low beam will shut off and the relay will send power to the 87A terminal and that will allow the high beams to activate on the aftermarket lights.......
If you are using 4 pin relays there are no 87A contacts and that is why you need 4 of them....you would have 1 relay for each high and each low beam....all the connections are the same and all you would change for each light is the 86 terminal would have to be connected to the factory power wire of the same light that you are running the relay to.....factory driver low beam, factory passenger low beam, factory driver high beam and factory passenger high beam.....Hopefully this helps you out....if there are any concerns feel free to PM me or whatever.......Later
