For anyone wanting a carputer.

Bybyte.com will have a LCD + Dash Kit available for Cobalts/G5's this week. It was too late for me, I had bought the dash kit separate. Those wanting to jump on this should do so, it's 240 bucks, thereby saving you quite a chunk of change.

This would be badass to have but way too complex for me to do alone. Much less for me to afford.

Good find!

If my screen ever craps out, I'll get this and use the factory bezel that I kept for a backup.

This is actually alot less complicated than you might think.

what is it? what does it do or read?
It's a touchscreen LCD display for a carputer.

they e-mailed me today saying it will be on their site within the week, selling @ $240.

This link is if your just wanting to see the monitor: http://bybyte.com/lcd_frame701.htm

Here is a description of the monitor itself:
# Modified Bezel for perfect fit in Metra DoubleDin kits, including our Cobalts Metra 95-3302
# 7” TFT LCD Color Car Monitor with 5 way adjustable LED backlighting
# High Resolution, Wide Viewing Angle, with native 15:9 screen ratio
# Full-function IR remote control
# Patch cable has standard VGA connection for video and USB for touch screen
# Auxiliary RCA Audio and 2x RCA Video Inputs for Rear View Camera and Gaming Systems
# Speaker built-in
# Auto power on option

This is the perfect solution, as they sell this combo with the dash kit for less than they even sell the modified lcd for. For $240 you can't go wrong.

From this point, you'd just have to get the machine in, if you just wanna just toy around you COULD get away way cheap. If you have the computer laying around, I figure you could do the baseline portion of the project(GPS, HD/AM/FM Radio), including the cost of above monitor/dash kit for under $500.

I've been doin a lot of research lately. Hoping it'll pay off. Looking into getting my business license with the state.

My stuff is shipping now. Gosh

We just got a red RS Camaro in today.

Nice looking car.

I took a picture of it with my cell phone, because it might be the last new performance model we get from GM for a while.

Totally oversimplifying this but from there u'd need

A computer, all proper cabling. make sure to use a dc/dc psu for the computer.(inverters cause NOISE)

You'll need @ least a 4ch amp to take the audio outputs from the computer(if you want 4 speakers).

Beyond that you could just use the normal functionality of windows and all the goodies like gps or get a front end and all the goodies for it.

So this fits perfectly where the stock radio is?
No modding anything?

Is that a sale price for the kit and how long is the sale for?

no reason to do that. this monitor here is primarily for putting in a full car computer. the monitor replaces the stock decks location completely.
